Download staying at 0 KB
WiFi or Ethernet?
If Ethernet have you tried bypassing your router?
If WiFi, is it locked down? WPA2-personal with a good complex and random key?
anyone fixed this problem? sitting around watching a 0 kb/sec download for 1.5 hours now -.-

Just curious but have you tried the following?
Click the start button and search for ‘cmd.exe’ without the ’.
Right click the resulting cmd.exe and run as administrator.
A “dos” box or command window will appear.
type and enter the following ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ again, no quotes.

will that renew my computer’s ip address? because i access internet via a whitelist, so if it changes my own ip address, i won’t have internet access any more, which kinda wouldn’t fix my problem :/
edit: internet works normally apart from that download problem, i just patched another game and it worked fine.
Flushdns just flushes your dns cache. Don’t bother with the /renew since you have a static IP.
DNS = Domain Name Server if you were curious.
Also, did you make sure and run the installer as administrator? This can make a difference.
i did the exact same as i did every day since release (i like holidays), and yes, i’m running as administrator. i’ll try that dns thing (just went to reboot the router, didn’t help).
thanks for trying to help, btw
flushed it (said “successfully flushed”), didn’t change anything.
btw it stopped downloading altogether like 3 mins ago. (i did nothing special just before that. the flushing was afterwards.)
Make sure that you do indeed have no AV, firewall, or general malware programs running. Make sure that windows has an exception in its own firewall for gw2.exe.
Aside from that I cannot think of much to do besides running a pathping and|or tracert to their servers and submitting that data as well.
yea, thats always the first stuff to do, i know :p
i guess there is some malsynergy.. or however you call the opposite of synergy.. between the new patch and some of my hard-/software.. would be easier to determine if there were patch notes -.-
well thanks anyway guess that will be a long day without gw2 then.. hope that waiting will just fix it sigh
Same thing is happening to me =(
I have been playing Gw2 since headstart and before. I upgraded my gpu, Ram and windows (from 32-64 bit) Today, but when I opened gw2 it downloaded 1800kb then went to 0kb/0kbs and wont budge. I try to close it but it is as if it isnt responding, but in task manager it says it is. Anyone got any advice? I also ran as admin, i restarted my comp I tried the DNS flush. nothing …
This is happening to me and my husband as well. Both of our games have this problem. Mine, for example, shows me ‘Downloading 407kb (0 kb/sec)’ and just sitting there. The number ‘downloading’ changes every time the game is launched, sometimes higher than 407, sometimes lower. It makes no sense. No idea what is going on. Need help. Thanks.
EDIT: Ok, I recycled my router and modem and it finally worked. Not sure if it was a fluke or not, but doing that definitely made it so I could get into the game. It downloaded right off. Hope this helps some people.

hey, it is really getting a problem that many people experience. we might get help! yay!
maybe some more detail after 5 hours of trying:
- winsock resetting doesnt help (yes, i tried about anything that ever fixed any problem in this forum)
- i noticed that my internet slows down incredibly when i had the launcher running and trying to patch. i can hardly open a website. the moment i shut down the launcher, everything works perfectly. does that maybe help? (if any official is reading this, anyway) it almost looks like the launcher is somehow slowing down the internet connection, and then obviously cant use it itself..
edit: awww, i tried that as well, didnt help :/
I have problem aslo…
I put Cd inside, click on run GW2 bla bla…
and it stays 0Kb, and then pops out to check my internet connection, but my internet is working…
im vrealy angry, gave so much moeny on game to not to play…
Same problem here.
idk, i stoped playing WoW becouse GW2 and now this…
this is bad guys veary bad…
what to do?
return product nad telling friends game is bad?
wtf, the game is amazing. just wait for them to fix the problem. i doubt this will be within the next days, but afterwards, it will still be an amazing game.
just wait or try to fix it yourself, somehow.
game is amazing i said i top playing wow…
but jesus, i was hoping to play today, and this…
idk what is problme my internet is just fine anyone have some solution??
Some official response would be nice, although it does seem to affect only a few people. There is also a reddit discussion about this.
ok, but thats not that, i CANT install game xD
if you think you are experiencing a different problem, you should open an own thread.
as far as i understood, we are all stuck with a launcher that does not download anything, without an obvious reason. seems to me like quite the same problem.
yea it is…
just wanna play GW2 , not to lose my nerfs….
I fixed my problem…Turns out after trying everything under the sun. I updated my graphics driver restarted and then ran the -repair command for the shortcut … I know I know you’re thinking “But Kyproth that’s the most basic thing in the history of game problems” I was originally updating everything but wanted to check GW2 and didn’t think a graphics driver would alter the launcher at all.
is this the problem?
“icmp.arenanetworks.com
206.127.158.1:80 – connect failed
64.25.39.1:80 – connect failed”
@FontaneroR I can ping those ips. But I have no idea where you got them from.
@ Kyproth Reinstalling the graphics divers did’nt help. Executing the launcher with repair option displays also 0/0 KB.
Problem persists. Pls help!
didnt help me either, kyproth. i was about to send you cookies if it had worked
i personally dont get into the part of the launcher where it shows any error messages, or what do you mean?
I don’t get an error message either (If this question was for me).
it was for fontanero, sry. my brain hurts a bit from google-ing for nearly 7 hours now. and the only response from anet i got so far was the much anticipated “hey, maybe try to restart the launcher? :D”
…on the other hand, i have to laugh every time i think of it, so it was probably the best answer they could give.. ^^
@Dracule.4379
Your installer does not run and install the game because your videocard does not meet the minimum requirements to run the game. I’m sorry to say that without a newer videocard you will not be able to install.
lol I haven’t found anything either. I really hope someone from AN will reply and guide us to resolve this problem.
Ok, this SOLVED it for me: I downloaded the current Lucid Virtu MVP version and installed it. It works now.
i downloaded the newest driver just an hour ago (i got an ati radeon hd 5770), didnt change anything. :(
Lucid Virtu MVP is not an GPU driver directly. My solution (might) only help if your monitor is DIRECTLY connected to your motherboard (corei5-corei7 with integrated GPU).
Otherwise connecting you monitor directly to you GPU and disabling integrated graphics in bios settings should help.
i thought Lucid Virtu MVP was something laptop-related? or notebook, however you call it, im no native english speaker, sry ^^
what does it do then, exactly? i think i got that direct connection, just physically, from what it looks like..
I’m no native speaker either. If you monitor is physically connected to your GPU then upgrading Lucid Virtu MVP will not help. If it physically connected to you motherboard your best bet is to connect it to you GPU, but disable integrated graphics in Bios first.
Lucid Virtu MVP is a software that basically switches from integrated graphics (supported by some core i5/7 CPUs) to dedicated graphics (your GPU) for applications you have enabled it for.
In general I think the 0/0 KB problem is related to gw2 running without a proper GPU. This is why first person does not have a supported GPU, second person reinstalled GPU drivers and me, who installed reinstalled Virtu MVP.
okay, so.. it seems like my monitor is “correctly” directly connected to the grahics board (= gpu?). but since i tried reinstalling it anyway, and it is correctly connected, probably its something completely different for me.
i have to admit, my patience is running low. i’ll ask a friend to download the patch and give me the whole thing later. maybe that will help.
sad thing that anet pays no attention at all.
lol. as i said, i got fed up, and just left it there standing with its 0kb/sec and went reading a book. from time to time, when i felt like, and hated that 0 even more, i restarted. after one hour of waiting with 0kb/sec………. the game just started. thats my afternoon. the game really loaded many many 0 kb’s :p
nc to that.
IDC, IT WORKS NOW :D
I got the same problem. And it’s happening with Diablo 3 too, although it goes through the splash screen and then nothing happens. I’m using a Geforce GTX 560 and -everytime – I do a CLEAN re-installation of my drivers, it temporally fixes the problem. At the moment I’m attempting a -repair after my driver’s clean install.
So…I rebooted and both GW and D3 are working…which makes me think it’s gonna bug again later… I did repair GW2 but not D3, so I don’t really know what’s the problem
this is also happening to me
i was able to play for the last week without issues
now i cant, all i see is 0KB download rate
If you see a 0KB download rate, check on your installation folder for a file called GW2.tmp or in your C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp for that file. See if the file size is changing (press F5 while looking at that folder). If it is changing, it is actually downloading instead of doing 0KB/s
i found GW2.tmp in C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2 but its only 0kb and does not seem to be changing
that may sound depressing, but.. if you checked all your drivers (fixed the problem for some), just wait. let it do its 0kb (maybe restart a few times, it usually downloads some kb on restart). it worked for me.
..yes, after an overall 8 hours, but it finally worked without doing anything else, and now it runs fine (at least in this regard).
k i will leave it open and see what happens
i also have GW2 on my laptop, and i DID NOT have this issue.
i entered the game and it updated with no issue
Hey guys, might have a solution for at least XP users,i have been pulling out my hair trying to get this working,i would put in a disk i bought,it would auto start,go up to 12000 kb and freeze for a couple seconds and crash,i have tryed EVERY fix for this that i could find, till i found a guy talking about updating your Root certificates, had no idea what he was talking about but tried anyways, started up the disk,it did the update thing up to 12000kb again and froze, but this time when i shut it off anothyr screen poped up with the option to install Guild Wars, clicked it and it installed and played perfectly,FINALLY after 5 months of nothing im now playing with no probs, hope i dont get banned or something for posting a link, but i know how much this sucks http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/A/4/3A423151-FEAB-43FB-902D-679023BF159F/rootsupd.exe hope you guys find your solution, and sorry for the super long story
Somehow with all that i forgot to mention, when i clicked the root thing it opened a screen for a split second, and i thought it did nothing,i was proven wrong
