Downloader is stuck?
I’ve had this kind of issue in the past and waiting it out helped me then, as for now, it may or may not help. I didn’t have any issues and I am currently sitting in game.
You can try this and try reloading the client and see if it helps:
/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2
Delete the contents of that specific folder (you should see files like this contained within “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few), then re-run the client.
This is a general fix for most things. If that doesn’t help, try this:
repair the client install
Open Terminal
Type the following:
/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair
You can copy and paste that in too. (check the dash) Run it and let it go until finished. FYI if you type the command yourself or paste it, they are 2 dashes (-) side by side… I’m noticing one sometimes looks like an em dash… It’s 2 en dashes though. (the dash before USE is 2 regular dashes)
Let me know if this works.
Well, after letting it sit over night (it did nothing), I logged in to see a message on the other tech support forum that they fixed something. I rebooted my computer, then let it run again, and miraculously (even after getting the same initial message), it eventually actually did something, and it worked.
So… problem solved… ish? Oye.
Oh boy. Glad to hear yours worked. That solution seems to work for some.
It ended up working after a while. I just had to let it sit there. =P
For anyone else:
Quoted from pc tech support thread:
Hey everyone! I’m happy to say that the programming team was able to implement a fix for this issue with last night’s build (thank you Katody for providing us with your log information so quickly!).
If you have not already done so, take the time to re-launch your client and allow it to run for at least ten minutes. It should eventually return the “connection failure…retrying” message. At this point, let it sit for another few minutes as the backup mechanism kicks in and downloads the missing file.
If you are still unable to patch the final file after giving the client time to re-connect, please take the time to generate a -log file and either post it here or submit a ticket to support.
Thanks, again, for your patience, and good hunting!

Will this also work for the Mac peeps who were also experiencing this issue?
If it does not, please submit a ticket to the customer support team at

, including a -log file, if possible."
