EU Players with Lag
Agreed. I’ve been trying to get into the game for the last hour, everything else as far as my connection works just fine. Now even the log-in server is hanging for up to 3-4 minutes, then even if I manage to get in I immediately lag out.
It’s been getting progressively worse the past few days, but now on the weekend it’s just toast. Unplayable.
I just submitted a ticket over this which has been ongoing for 2/3 weeks, I ran the client diagnostic and the pingplotter trace and eventually Anet told me what i KNEW they was going to tell me “please contact your ISP”
I have had it with the bullcrap and lack of response on this issue from ANET.
We know it’s nothing to do with our ISPs, as it’s affecting people from Portugal to Russia and everywhere in between.
Not to mention the fact that ever since the second Flame & Frost update last month, I randomly lose connection to the “client server” and the “log-in server”, which results in massive chat lag, chat message send failures, and most silly of all, players going invisible at random and their actions not appearing, while NPCs are entirely unaffected.

I posted this in the other thread. if they want to say contact the ISP. Then they can give me a refund for this game. I can load up LoTRO and with it’s handy dandy little network icon. I can see my 140 ping and 0% PL to their US servers. I can do speed test and see I’m at 100% I can even do a ping test to servers in Dallas with ZERO issues(see below).
defiantly getting huge lags is well after the start of the second part of the prelude saga or what ever and especially now since ever the latest part, lagging with like 5 to 10 sec late response man anet slacking and please I hope they don’t type up crap saying contact our ISP NOTHING is wrong with our ISP its your cheap crappy servers etc.
the only game that I am getting these problems huge lagz and also their famous error 7

Lag again, disconnections, plays perfectly during the day but evenings are unplayable.
I just got this issue today. It is lagging like never before. Around 3 to 5 second skill delay and the animations are all rigid and disgusting. Dungeons are impossible. Dragons are not even on my list. WvW lag was around 3 mins and I died. Took another 2 mins to port back to the spawn. Lag spikes constantly. I blame my ISP at the moment but I really hope they can fix it.
Game is completely unplayable for me. Lag spikes all the time. 3-4 sec skill activation delay and it’s been like this for the better part of a week now. Sometimes I log in and it’s fine but around peak time is just unplayable. I know it’s not my ISP as I have tried playing other online games and I don’t experience any lag in them while literally at the same time I am lagging like crazy in GW2. Chat works without any delay oddly enough.
The current lag threads in the german support forums have more than 4700 replies with ~ 160000 views altogether, more than 1000 replies have been created in the last 9 days.
I dont have any lag spikes, only have lag in WvW on large battles.. but thats mostly skill lag.
Not just EU players, it is players in Asia, too, experiencing this. In world events, especially Jormag and Shatterer, I can experience 5 to 10 second delays between each on-screen skill action, the animation falls behind by minutes of what is actually happening. Sometimes I drop off the server completely, other times I luck out and the game does a time warp and catches up to the server time. This has become much more common the last week since the patch, it rarely was a problem before it. Also, this issue can crop up in dungeons. Arah Story I lagged out twice on the airship and fell to my death, and also had one disconnect when Zhaitan spawned.
Normally the game runs smooth with very minimal lag. Running a VPN does not help, I’ve tested the ports and don’t see an IS kitten ue, speed tests don’t detect anything as well, my ping is super small. I made a network diag yesterday, I don’t see many clues, but I can’t read the information as clearly as the network guys at Arenanet. Hope you can make the game playable again, soon.

The clues are starting to add up that Inteliquent’s backbone is likely a culprit in the EU lag based on the logs/traces people are posting.
ip4.tinet.net <<< this network seems to be very lossy at the moment for the unfortunate GW2 gamers that get routed over this backbone.
EDIT: I called their NOC to confirm if any issues in Europe. They said they were not aware of any issues at this time. Hopefully, network support from Anet & Inteliquent can get this resolved in a timely manner.

Since the last update (Flame and Frost 8 March) my game is completely unplayable due to lag (there isn’t frame lag) but my connection status is fine, I tried with many other games and all of them run perfectly. After few minuts the client lose connection and regulary get this error: " 7:11:3:189:101 "

Don’t think its just limited to Europe. I’m from the Middle East, and the lag reached unplayable levels yesterday. Skills would activate 3-5 seconds later, and crashes caused by loss of connection to the log-in server.

User from Israel here. this issue started after the february Patch.
No Frame Lag.
Skill Activation Lag and Chat Lag.
Bigger events suffer from Larger Lag.
Sometimes Client Disconnects, many times not, after events finish, all Lagging Skills get Charged and Game Becomes Playable again.
(Most of the Events done during the Mega Lag, are missed, and not Credited for, including lost Chests for Bosses).
Please would an Admin look at the following:-
a) Check the geographical areas/servers with this problem.
b)The problem occurs at its worst at EU weekends and EU evenings – suggests a loading problem – works OK (most of the time) during the EU daytime working hours.
From working on large server farms in the past I’ve seen similar problems – solution have a number a floating servers that can be assigned to where the problem worst.
And to suggest in the on screen message that it is either the user or their ISP that is at fault is insulting. Admit that you are just too popular, but have not invested in enough servers with load balancing technology.
If we can’t login, we can’t collect poits for out Guild.
Plus I’ll bet a lot of players will stop buying Gems!

Glad im not alone. Have not been able to play due to the awful lag for 3-4 days now. All other games works fine as always. Playing from Sweden btw.

I would not expect a solution for this today. As I pointed out in the Network Lag thread, GW2’s twitter account hasn’t posted a tweet since Mar. 8, they must be off on their weekend. I “think” we’ll get a fix on Monday.. which completely sucks…

The EU lag plus login problems, and sudden server disconnects has been getting worse over the past few weeks. Now when I do get in, maybe after 15-30 mins I get about 5 mins play berfore a mysterios loss of connection. But I can still get to the forums.

I’m really kitten about this. at least they could make a statement, it’s obvius this problem is on their side. If they don’t fix it next patch i’m out coz I don’t wanna get grey in mid 20’s.

well, i have lags up to 1 min during prime time. and no, its not the fault of the provider, all other online games i have a very good ping/ms.
but guild wars 2 is unplayable….

Lag started about an hour ago, then came the disconnects. Now I can’t even log in to the game It’s peak playing time here in Europe and we have guild events planned for the night. Great.
Even my wife is telling me I should find a new game.

Im playing from Far Shiverpiks server and since last patch i cant play the game, because huge lag im having, some time takes more them 15 seconds for my character execute a comand i gave….

No fps-issue, and internet is fine, too.
The game is unplayble, especially in dungeons (had to stop); had skill and chat lag up to over 10s lag spikes.

Perhaps a European civil suit for not providing what was promised when we bought into the game?

Randomly gives me 2-10 second delays that lead to desyncs, that lead to disconnects for the last 4 days. Works fine in uncrowded areas but kittens up in WvW and Major Cities…
My FPS and Internet-connection/ISP all work fine.

In morning was fine, lag (5-15s) started in afternoon, stil lasts now. After I get ingame im there for few min or even less, then I get this code 7:11:3:189:101…. No problems before update
I submitted a ticket and I thought it was going to go somewhere at first. I uploaded a picture of my in-game ping/PL from LoTRO, pingtest results to Dallas that show 0% PL and a 140’ish ping. Also, 3 pingplotter traces that show a 100% PL after 2 NCSoft servers, both at the 11th hop.

Maybe we aren’t looking at the same thing. I sat here and watched it the whole time on my 2nd monitor because GW2 I couldn’t play due to 30 sec to 5+ minute skill lag. There was ZERO packet loss until the 11th hop. 10th being a plaync.com. If my ISP was having issue, then LoTRO would have issues since it is also a US server. My websurfing speed would suffer do to PL. My other Speedtest/pingtest would also show this. Is this how Anet supports their product? Blame it on something else? Especially when it’s clear that there are 100’s of people reporting the same problem from Asia routes, EU routes, Middle east and Australia. I’m hoping this company is like any other, if there is a Tier 2, then push it up to it, because my patience is wearing then on a $60 product I purchased that I can’t play since the last patch, nor is it being competently being fixed. Everyday that passes I’m one step closer to a refund.

Thank you for the reports.
Overall your connection looks good except for the 7th hop, which causes me some concerns. There is only very minimal packet loss, however, what I am seeing is areas in the green bars that appear broken. This represents your connection being unable to connect to that specific hop, this usually results in your connection trying to reroute through a different IP in order to maintain your connection. In some cases your connection may recover from this however, you may still experience lag or latency due to this.
Because the loss of data is happening prior to it reaching our game servers, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance. I would suggest sending this PingPlotter report to your ISP when you talk to them. It will definitely help them with determining exactly what is happening and hopefully they will be able to get it resolved for you.

I thought something might be wrong with my ISP as well. But ruled it out once LoTRO work continuously with out lag or PL and the ping test to Dallas with zero PL continually. I did the first server for ~ 15-20 minutes. Didn’t wait until 30 since it was hitting a 100% PL. I was able to zone into 2 different areas that changed my IP. I ran them again for just a few minutes with the same results.

Yes, we are aware of the posts in the forums. ArenaNet is currently looking into this issue, however, we do not have any information to provide at this time. I took a look at the Game Advisor report you provided and it appears your connection may be suffering from packet loss. For reference, I have included the data found in Game Advisor below:
At this time, I would like to confirm these findings with a more advanced diagnostic report which will graph your Internet connection while actively playing Guild Wars 2. To do this, we use an application called “Ping Plotter.”

There is no need for all the attachments and to waste time scrubbing through the lines of computer details, tracerts etc. Read your own forums a lot of EU players are having lag issues. For the last couple nights it is unplayable and full of disconnects. I have tried rebooting my modem, restarting PC, none of which helped. This was all before I read the forums. Just to ensure it wasn’t my connection. I ran speedtest from speedtest.net to various servers in EU and the US, no issues. I ran ping test from pingtest.net. Again, to various servers in EU and US. Here is the link to my Dallas test. As you can see ZERO issues, mean while at the exact same time, I am lagging in YOUR servers. I logged into LoTRO, and had a stable 140 ping with 0% PL. If there is something wrong in the servers currently or something with the latest patch(when it started) then there is nothing wrong with looking into it, owning up to it and correcting it. Yet, there areno Anet replies in the forums, poor customer support. If this is the support you provide to your customers then maybe I need to click on the refund link and go on my way.
Okay, this may sound stupid ( and for some it’s going to be a huge pain in the kitten ) but I uninstalled and completely downloaded the client again. Seemed to work okay (mind you it was 0:00hrs CET This morning) WvW went smoothly, Tequatl had minimal lag.
I will try again at peak time this evening. If it all goes wrong again then I will start the good ole complaints procedure to see the deeply joyous game of “pass the buck”…
