You can play it on El Capitan as I have it on my machine.
It is no better or worse than it was before I updated.

Hello
My game crashed last Saturday and since then i’ve been unable to start the game on my Mac. The icon loads and the dot indicating the program is open is there, but the games start up window doesn’t load. I’ve tried restarting my computer, i’ve recently up-dated to the new OS X (still nothing), i’ve tried repairing the game and reinstalling. I even went as far to remove all the GW2 files from my computer and starting a fresh installation and still nothing.
Can you help me? I’ve check forums and found little to no help on how to fix this problem. Is there any info i can e-mail customer support for help?

I experienced game crashes on the old OS Yosemite. I just want my game to start.
I know most of the players have pc but as a group of player we also deserve a good game client i know it is hard to work on new exp and new client same time but Anet need to do something very quick…
All of you having problems should try this:
“you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without the previous steps however, it will lose all saved log in/password and in-game settings.
To access this:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will recreate the recently deleted folder.”
Otherwise go have a look in the mac support sticky thread and try the other suggestions.

Lower your graphics settings. GW2 is a very CPU intensive program and when you’re running it on mac it is running through a cider wrapper. Performance is going to be bad, you’re going to have crashes. THere’s not really any way to fix the crashes from your end, unfortunately they’re caused by the application being incredibly poorly (read not) supported.
Thanks for replying Flaming Foxx,
I’ve tried again this morning reinstalling the game. The installation works (as usual) but the game log-in screen still doesn’t open. I can’t patch new builds and still unable to play the game. Can a moderator or developer send me a message or give me any new ideas to get my game started?
Toshi, my suggestion is to contact Support through the link at the top of the page. It is doubtful if any dev will read it here.
Good luck. I hope you get your game working.
