My email address is displayed in my guild roster after my character’s name, can anyone else see it?

After the update yesterday, everywhere that my account name should show up, my email is displayed.

I was worried of people seeing my email and trying to hack it to reset my account password or something.

When I asked a friend, he said he could not see my email, but he could see his own.

I guess that’s okay, just weird, is it a bug? And for all those people that post pics and vids, now they will have to take extra time to blur out that info. It doesn’t feel safe for some odd reason.

I was just about to make a thread on this as well. It seems new to me. Or at least I’ve never noticed it before. Figured it was caused my one of the recent updates. My guildies say they can’t see it, so it’s just me, as the guy above said.

I was about to make a thread on this until i had seen this however my email address could be seen by 1/4th of the people online at my guild which is rather worrying. Anybody else experiencing this? It seems like not everybody can see it except some.

I noticed the same issue on the character screen last night and this evening have seen my email address in the guild roster, have check with the few guild members online who cannot see it but will check again tomorrow if more are about

I just had the same problem on my guild roster when I logged in tonight. I’ll check with the other guild members later to see if they can see my e-mail.

Edit: If it helps at all, I grabbed a screenshot of an error code that pops up right before my e-mail starts showing on the guild roster. I’ve already reset my router and changed around my security settings, but it hasn’t helped.

My email was showing in my guild roster as well; along with anywhere else I usually see my account name (top of my contacts list, etc). I’m in a small guild and the one person online had a nickname set (that showed up fine). I exited the program then came back in 5 minutes and it was fixed. It happened again later in the night, seemed like after changing characters. Never happened to me before the patches.

I logged in tonight and my email address is shown next to my toon name in the guild window. That has never happened and I don’t what my email address revealed to others. Has anyone encountered this? I did submit a ticket.

This happened to me as well yesterday afternoon. When I logged in later and checked it had reverted to my display name.

Happened to me too. It also displayed it in the login menu. A quick game restart fixed it and none of my guild mates could see it so it’s all good.

This has also happened to me! I was worried at first that everyone who ever clicked on my character would have access to my personal e-mail address, but it turns out I’m the only one who can see it.

I also have this issue with a few extras to it…..

Not only is my email shown in the guild tab, I also have the problem of losing all information in the guild tab. It will show no players online and I am unable to do any maintenance to the guild.

I also lose all ability to use my chat. I can not see any Guild/Party or Whisper that may be in coming or out going. I get the error 42:1000:9001:4105:101 (which I know another member posted a picture of earlier)

The strange thing for me is it only happens in the evening! I can play all day time and it will work fine, but towards 6pm (uk time) I get the error and the above kicks in.

I run AVG and have the “Guild Wars 2 Special” option so I’m unsure if it’s a firewall or security issue like the error message tells me.

I’ll like to add, that it not only shows up in the guild register, it displays it on the top right of my character selection screen as well. Haven’t verified if anyone else can see it in the guild register though.

Just to say I am getting the same thing happening but one of the avenues that im investigating is throttling by my ISP (Orange) during peak times ie it happens to me between 6pm UK and 10/11 all other times are fine.

Instead of my tradition account name it shows my email address. Does it only look that way to each individual? Is there a way to change it back?

Are you talking about your account name being displayed in the guild window? If so they have said it is a bug. The good news is you are the only one who should be able to see it while everyone else should only be able to see your account name. If however your friends or guild members can see your email Anet said you should have them take a screen shot and send it in a big report. Hope that helps.

same problem here with not being able to chat and getting that error message.

If you have more problems than just the mail adress showing up, you should put it in the sticky for guild problems in the bug section of this forum. They are collecting all other guild problems there.

Same thing here, email address showing, no error message, I don’t know if others can see it, but it BOTHERS me !!!!

Yeah, I got the same thing, I freaked out and asked two of my friends to see if they could see my e-mail, guess not?

I now have this very same problem and this happened to me after this maintenance we had today.

When we can expect the fix to be online? In the big february patch perhaps?

UPDATE: This seems to have fixed by itself. Logged in 2 hours later and now I can see my display name as it should be. Not sure what fixed it…
