Q:
Email authenticator disabled?
A:
Never mind guys, the reason why I couldn’t find a way to enable the email authentication was because it was already enabled. Duh.
Q:
Long story short my account was hacked last night and my characters stripped from all of their exotics, gold, crafting ingredients, everything (I lost about a month or two of progress). I contacted Anet support and have already gotten a response of there being absolutely no way to have my account rolled back, which I’m still trying to get over but whatever it’s just a game life goes on.
At this point I’ve been trying to activate the email authenticator in order to prevent getting hacked again in another two months (I use complex passwords, I run virus/malware scanners on a weekly basis, I don’t visit any shady websites so I don’t see how I can prevent another attack).
I looked everywhere on how to set up the email authenticator and came up that it’s either on https://account.guildwars2.com/account/security (which there’s only the mobile authenticator app), or the GW2 login screen which I don’t see anything about the email authenticator. I’m under the impression that it’s simply inaccessible at this time. I don’t have a smart phone and I feel I shouldn’t be required to own one just to prevent getting hacked in this game.
If I’m just not seeing it and someone could tell me how to enable the email authenticator it I’d really appreciate it.
