[Emulation] Run GW2 on Linux/Mac
Would you post your mac’s specs, the game’s graphics settings, and your experience with crashes while using crossover? I’d like to be able to compare to my machine before I consider purchasing.
I use Linux to game on which i get 2-3 fps difference from the windows OS on guildwars2. I have a friend that uses a mac pro and used my account for this program and got about the same little less at time but still was better than his.
My rig that i use this on
intel Core 2, 3.2Ghz
4 GB DDR2
Nvidia 8600 GTS 256mb
I would advice to download the 14 day trial see if it works for your needs.

I just posted this program as a alternative to just using a beta program or running windows OS all the time.
Linux fan
guildwars 2 has a higher rating of compatibity on mac over Linux. Linux with 3 star, mac with 4 star.

Again I was just try the program for 14 days and see.
I’ve tried it, I personally find the Mac Beta ArenaNet provides to be finer tuned, though Crossover I have in reserve in case something tragic goes wrong with the ‘native’ client (such as the Black Screengate of the Tequatl Rising patch of 2013!!!!)
I bought this and it works great on Linux and Mac OS. Its a program that allows you to use the Windows version of games and programs without waiting on game developers to finish compatibility. It works better than beta programs…… However the game on Linux/mac with this program is about 2-3 FPS lower than Native Windows.

codeweavers are the company that manages wine. Most linux players use it to play windows games.

TIPS: set windows version to xp and run gw2 with dx9single flag.
I do not know why anet run a different code with xp but it might help with some shuttering.
ya wine is free to use if you know how to set it up. which isn’t hard for most but the crossover program basically has it set and done for u with a support group that can help you out but all in all good alternative if something crashes or stops working.
For Mac this might be a good idea, although I believe it’s ANet’s job to fix a game advertised as Mac compatible, not the players.
For Linux I recommend Wine-Staging: http://www.wine-staging.com/ (I’ve been playing it on Linux for over a year here) Free and works very good. In truth works better than Mac and more stable than Windows (although it comes with a performance hit).
If any needs help on setting it up on Linux just ask (screenshot attached of what you can expect). The 64bit client works perfectly, no crashes even in HoT maps or Tequatl.

Ya i used wine before as well, i use so many different distros of linux i get lazy so i bought crossover there the ones that setup wine to begin with anyways lol. but ya good alternative.
Other ways also Vmware Player/ Workstation
You can install full copy of windows xp – windows 10 and it feeds of your hardware, however that would make a hit on your available ram LOL.
