Dear ArenaNet (if you’ll ever read this post).
I’m an absolute fan of your game, playing it since the very start, and it has never left my hard drive for more than 2 days. As my income is not so big and I live in the region of the world where Heart of Thorns was quite expensive, I had to collect money for it for quite a long time, but finally managed to buy it, and since then I had an absolute blast, reassuring myself that this is truly the best MMORPG I’ve ever played.
But since Spring Quaterly Update the game became unplayable for me. On all of the HoT maps and WvW (which I started playing most of my GW2 time), after approximately 15 minutes, or during events, or while having more than dozen players on screen, my FPS is running unplayably low, completely locking up my computer. I’ve NEVER had such problems before in GW2 (mind you, I play for 4 years, and had not changed my hardware since). The only option for me when this FPS drop happens is to restart my computer. I also play different games, and have no such problems, even if the requirements for these games are higher than those of GW2. Here is my specification:
4 GB Ram
4×2.4 AMD Athlon II
GeForce 9800 GT
and a 100MB/s internet connection

Yeah, for those of you that would say my computer is crap – maybe it is not the newest one. But hey, I still meet the requirements, and these are not minimum. Before the Update i was able to play on medium graphic settings, with some of the set on high, but now even the lowest are too much. And I would repeat myself – I don’t have any problems in any other games I play.

I also saw, that a lot of people have similiar problems to mine since the Update. I encourage you to write in this post. Maybe ArenaNet will finally do something about it, because well, if this situation will continue, we will have a massive scam – a game that is unplayable on the system specification that it recommends.

Please, ArenaNet, do not turn your back on your players and restore the game performance to its previous state!

Are you using a 64-bit OS? And the 64-bit GW2 client? It may be helpful.

I’m using 64-bit Windows 7, but never really chose a beta 64 client, since I always install it from the CD. Maybe the Spring Update changed the client to 64 but i don’t know how to check it, and client never redownloaded itself.

Nope. you would have to download the 64 bit client yourself.

Log in to account.arena.net and go to the Game Content page. Under “Other Clients” you will find a button that says “Windows 64-bit [Beta]”. Press that button and then follow the instructions in the next paragraph for installing the executable. Installing the 64-bit client is a manual process and is recommended only for people familiar with Windows folder management.

I already have the 32-bit client; will I have to completely download the game again?
No. The 64-bit client uses the same data as the 32-bit client. If you already have the game installed, you can follow these instructions to avoid needing to reinstall the game:

Download the 64-bit client.
Copy the downloaded program into your Guild Wars 2 game folder.
Update any shortcuts to the game to point to the new file instead.
This process will be automatic once we get out of beta."

After 3 days of testing I can tell, that 64 client solved the problem!
