Hey there,

I’ve owned the game since release and had the occasional hiccups when it comes to connectivity, but over the past month, and more so in the past couple weeks, I have been getting consistent disconnects which brings me to the character select screen then once I try to get back in-game, I am shown to a white screen with an error code in it (see attachment). I’ll then close the client, get back to the character select screen and attempt to get in game on the character I disconnected with. If I do, I’ll get the same message. If I try to log in on another character, I can get into the game and I won’t have any problems for say, the next 30 minutes if that, then the same will happen. This happens rather randomly but usually on a daily basis and more so after the alleged “Ddos attacks”.

I primarily play WvW and tend to stick to smaller engagements rather than the ‘Zerg v Zerg’ but even when in Lion’s Arch the disconnects happen.

I contacted my ISP and they said it isn’t on their end, which I believe because Guild Wars 2 is the only program which is experiencing these sort of disconnects. I thought perhaps it’s my wireless connection as it can be susceptible to interference so I bought a cable and plugged straight into my router. It certainly increased my download speeds, but didn’t stop the disconnects.

I tried a traceroute, hoping it’s relevant to my situation. My results were:

I’m a bit wary to try anything else as I’m not much of a tech head so wasn’t sure if displaying more information from my traceroute would compromise my computer’s security. I’m rather confused as to why these problems didn’t hit me when I first started the game but are happening now.

Anyway I hope the information I’ve provided helps to solving the problem and can provide more if needed.

Just got the same thing on my end…

Going to try a restart. I don’t want to try a -repair until I absolutely have to. (it’s alot of stuff to download)

Same for me – currently can’t access any WvW maps. Not an internet issue. I’ve tried reloading with the -prefreset advice I found in other posts with zero luck. I guess I need to start my own ticket. Currently missing playing with a bunch of friends

Given the number of people who’re having this (me, too) and the error description+nature (we all can log in to the character select screen, but not the main game—so we can connect to some portion of their infrastructure, but not all of it), I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a hardware failure or some other sort of lack-of-availability issue on their end with some portion of their data center.

I suppose I should get to sleep soon anyways. :\

I was about 20 seconds away from a full triple trouble decap when I lagged out of the game and couldn’t reconnect with the same problem. Not an internet issue on my end. Just a connection error trying to get back in. Yeehaw. There’s timing and then there’s the kind of timing that is simply epic beyond any real understanding.

I am afraid this has happened to me as well. I was in WvW and went to talk to the trading post to get some new runes. Couldn’t open it at all (possible sign?) Then left and went to LA instead. When I attempted to open the trading post there I dc’d (not sure if related cause or just a potential symptom) I then attempted to log back in twice on that character and promptly dcd. Then I switched ot my necro who is also in LA who promptly dcd. Giving it a last shot I switched to my guard and she was fine in HOTM until I left..entered LA…and dc’d.

It reminds of vanilla wow when one of the server’s in charge of each continent would go down. Everyone else was fine until they attempted to enter that continent before getting into a dc crash. This very much feels like a “World Server crash”

I get the same errors as those above when attempting to enter the game on those three characters now. I won’t be logging in on the other characters till I atleast know tehy wont suffer the same fate haha.

Had this issue just now as well. Went into fractals with a group of friends and a minute in, I disconnected. Tried many times to reconnect, once in a while it would let me log in and load into Lion’s Arch but trying to get back into the fractal would disconnect me again. Most of the time it would just sit there at the login screen and give me a network error message.

Tried changing my DNS server in case my ISP was having issues, tried rebooting, came back and still kept having the same issues. Eventually it let me connect enough to get back into the fractal for maybe two minutes to start the boss fight, then disconnected again. Was able to get back in right away that time, although since I died due to disconnect the party wiped and we had to restart. A minute after we kill the boss, I disconnect again. So no more fractals tonight! After that I had no issues for the next 15 minutes or so I stayed, despite switching characters repeatedly.

I got both error codes 5:11:3:159:101 and 19.9.18.1607.101 during this whole thing. Of course, there’s nowhere to look them up…

This is still happening to me. Error ( Code: 7 : 11 : 3 : 191 : 101 ) followed by Error ( Code: 5 : 11 : 3 : 159 :101 ) when trying to log back in. Thanks for the advice pdavis but I tried repairing the client and the errors haven’t stopped.

Fox, I have been having that error code (7:11:3:191:101) for the past month, when it gets to the loading screen. I just want to fix the game, but I don’t know how or what is wrong. So, hopefully, the repair works.

Hi, I have recently started getting the error 5:11:3:159:101. I had it a couple of days ago when leaving an instance, and noticed it did a mini roll back before allowing me to play the character again. Most recently it happened when travelling between Gandaren and Lornar’s pass during the loading screen this time on a different character. Again when I log in it goes to Gandaren loading screen then straight to Lornar’s pkittening screen trying to roll back. I can still log into other alts no problem.
Last year I finally qualified as a Cisco Engineer, which is basically a server/routing engineer and am currently studying the finer points of coding. I read Matts (Anet) reason for the error being ISP packet drop problem and thought hmm interesting since I can log into other characters. I decided to contact my uni tutor who looked at the footage I took of the DC happening, and showed him ping result I took before and after. His unbiased and professional opinion is that Anet need to take a look at their servers as the problem is with their servers not handshaking correctly and drop out being caused there!
I also spoke to several engineers working for Virgin Media (who are also my ISP) who I know through my studies, they have looked at the results and also state that it is clearly an Anet problem.
So the result is, don’t start messing with you system doing client repairs, if it was your client then you couldn’t log into any character. Don’t bother contacting your ISP to complain, they are sick of hearing it, and will do nothing. DO contact Anet using a ticket and complain to them. After all, if your PC wasn’t working but everything else in your home was, would you blame your electricity company?

So in other words, “keep calm and go do something else.”

After all, if your PC wasn’t working but everything else in your home was, would you blame your electricity company?

As a contact centre worker for a power company, I’d just like to add that you would be shocked and appalled that this does, in fact, happen lol
