HI, I have played Guild Wars 2 since it released. At release, I would get error codes 7 and 58 and then it finally stopped and I could play regularly for quite a while until the recent update. Now when I log on I can get to the character screen but when I click my character it says error code 58 and takes me back to the main client screen. Any help would be appreciated. I have checked the error codes on the one page and nothing seems to work. This has been going on for about three days now.

Every time I log on I may have hours of play or I may be booted after minutes. I get booted to the game client and try to log in and it says I cannot connect. It says due to a Firewall, but I don’t have one in place. I would like to see this fixed. I honestly had not problems until Halloween…

Hi SargentLee – I would like you to try a new command we just introduced to assist players with these types of issues. To do this:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.

2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”

3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”

4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”

5. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end.

Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”

6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.

7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.

Hi Ashley,

I’m trying to do this port test right now, and everytime I put the C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe in quotes, followed by a /clientport 80 – and hit “Apply”, the quotes go away.

It goes from looking like this:
“C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80

To this:
C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80

What do?

Nevermind. The quotes are only required if you have a space in your file path name. Mine does not so it removes the quotes.
