Error code 42 help please
Anet please help!
I solved this now

. Follow this:
1. Close Guild Wars2.
2. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
3. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
4. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”
5. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
6. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end.
Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”
7. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
8. Run “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” as administrator and try connecting again.

I did everything you said and it was working great except when i went to shortcut and clicked advanced to run as administrator it is all greyed out, i spent around 2 hours looking for a solution but still can’t find one any ideas what might me causing it to not let me run as administrator?
Right click on my computer – manage – local users and groups – users – right click on your user – properties – member of – there you must have administrator.

I have the same Problem I only got the game yesterday and I try to log-in and all I get is “The Game Client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings. security applications or connecting through campus network” then tells me to come to this support site. I have the same error code 42:0:9001:4148. I have tried everything even the “clientport80” but still nothing, just keeps giving me the same message.
Is there any way someone can help me please?
Thingol, anyone we need your help!
I still can’t figure it out omg this is so frustrating
Also try msconfig in command prompt – services – hide all microsoft services – then disable all.
In the center of network connections click on network adapter setings then right click on you local network – properties – disable TCP/IPv6 – set just TCP/IPv4.
I dont now if it helps.
But i write everythink i did before seting of shortcut with " clientport 80 when game is working.
Make sure you disable Firewall and i also dont have antivirus.
I have windows with another language, names may be different.
I have tried all what you have said and still nothing, it still gives me the same message
.
idk wth i did but i can get into the game now..
i think it was disabling the microsoft thing, u sir are a genius
I am glad to help you! I am stil rookie in Guild Wars 2.
Can you help me?
Branny try everythink again, it must work. You must have some program or service witch cancels logging. Try to stop every service or program, antivirus and firewall.
I did try everything again, I have figured out that all the ports that are required for the game, none of them are open. But if that doesnt work then i dont know what to do i might have to try everything again… hopefully something works

For anyone who is getting this specific error code “42:0:9001” please check to see if you have an application running on your system known as Relevant Knowledge and either disable or remove it. This application has been known to throw this particular error.
i have tried all this whats been said and yet i still cant log in and i still get the same error i dont know what to do and it actually is really frustrating since it took me a day to download and now i wont even b able to play it
Several things to know:
1) you HAVE to be an Administrator for the /clientport 80 shortcut to work.
If you do not know if you are an administrator or not, then you probably are not.
2) If you play the game through a router, then make sure that Port 80 is assigned to the game.
You have to be able to log into your router’s admin to get to the port/forward abilities.
3) Try to make sure that you have enough free space for the game’s TEMPORARY files to run in. I have experienced problems when I run with less than 4 Gigs free.
4) When you run Ventrillo or some other voice-over-IP, make sure that you are not using a RANGE of ports that would walk over port 80.
There are other programs that also let you choose a range of ports for their use so close any program that you do not need to run.
5) Make sure that your system does not have any malware, keylogger, or snooper software running because they nest themselves into the port driver to both collect and send data back to a host, causing timeouts to the game.
Note: Thanks much to the person that posted /clientport 80 command line arguments. Can other ports work if port 80 is used by a required program? Or is the game hard-locked to port 80?

I have the same problem. I did all You have written in that topic and … nothing changed.
GW2 is unplayable..
I got this error today aswell, got thrown out of a dungeon with error 191:101 which I’m getting at least twice a week, followed by this. Last time I tried the port shortcut thing it worked, now it doesn’t, but after a fresh restart of my PC it all seems to work fine again.
