Ok I have no idea why this keeps happening.

Sometimes (usually when up agianst a map boss like the shatterer) A very loud beeping from the guild wars 2 client. Sometimes it will just continue for as long as I sat in game and I have to mute the game, or sometimes I get kicked out of game with an error report.

I have a great computer and this never happens in large WvW battles or the claw of jormag event just the shatterer, the shadow behemoth and the dragon in bloodtide coast.

My PC sepcs are:

i5 2500k cpu
gtx 560 ti graphics card
8gb of ram

I have 2 monitors set up, I have guild wars 2 on one and usually firefox up on the other.

Please help, I get kicked just as the chest spawns for the event so I never get the rewards, this is soooo frustrating.

We probably need more info than that to give you any informed suggestions. You should attach a dxdiag.txt file for your system. You might also want to include what brand of motherboard and/or sound card your system has.

When did you last update the audio driver for your system? It could be that the driver is old and that’s what is causing problems. There have been other reports of sound issues, so you might want to search the forums to see if any of the other threads have information/suggestions that will help you out.

The same thing happens to me from time to time in heavily crowded areas like Claw of Jormag or karma farming zergs.
The sound stops and instead you keep hearing something like a siren alarm (or beeping as some may call it). It continues on until I restart my game.

I have the same problem, happens a lot unfortunately. It sounds like an electronic alarm clock going off, very loud.

For tech support; my bug report was Ref. # 121031-001102 and includes a dxdiag.txt.
For the non tech support; newest drivers, fresh Windows install, etc…
Setup: Intel i7-3770 3.4GHz, 8 Gigs DDR3-1600, H77 Chipset, Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium, AMD Radeon HD7970, Win7 x64

The beep-beep sound is intermittent during game play. However once it starts the only way to stop if from coming back is to restart the client.

It does not seem to replace any regular sound in the game.

I have had this in solo play in story instances as well as part of regular play in the world. It does not seem to be coupled to a large amount of players being near or any other factor. As far as I can tell its a random occurrence, but happens every few hours games play.

It stops if you put the game in the background (and the game is set to stop sound in the background). But it ignores the master volume control, so it keeps beep-beeping even after all other sounds cease.

On my surround sound setup it only comes from the central speaker (i.e. not left, right or rear left, right).

I have the same issue. I can’t give a dxdiag at the moment but I’ve sent crash reports to Arenanet when the issue results in one. I’ve had this problem since release (never saw it in beta) and if my sound quality is set to high it happens very often. Lowering the sound quality seems to make the issue less frequent.

I’ve seen (or rather, heard) this a few times. Seems to be more likely to happen when the game’s very busy with something.

I can even make the sound glitch by pressing F11 during a loading screen and clicking something in the UI. Normally, this should make a subtle UI sound effect, but usually, nothing can be heard — until the loading finishes or a few seconds pass, and then the sound plays at a random (usually insanely loud) volume, often with some kind of echo effect.

Given that the loud echoing sounds and the siren almost exclusively happen when the game’s busy, I’m pretty sure it’s some sort of race condition in the game’s sound code. That is to say, the game’s threaded sound code fails at concurrency and has a chance of breaking unless the game’s sound thread gets to execute fast enough, or in a certain order relative to whatever else interacts with it. When the game’s running smoothly, the probability of this happening is near zero.

Maybe it’s just passing pointers to data that won’t stay valid for long enough, or only setting up some sfx parameters after telling the sound to play.

I suppose all we can do is facepalm at a 2012 game failing at playing digital audio.

This is a well know bug of this client. Had it too after a crowded zergy bossfight.

Lets all hope the next patch will fix this, in the mean time just go to options and tone down the sound quality or switch it off outright.

Same problem especially annoying in Wvw cause either your game freezez and you have to restart or you have to play it without sound. In both way its so frustrating.

i am having this problem at least 1 month,
I hope they will solve it soon.

Also known as sinus siren bug. Happens to anyone playing at highest quality. Taking it down one notch for crowded events usually prevents it from happening.

Yes, it’s been a bug known since release. At first it sounded like they were close to tracking it but then it must be one of those bugs which are evasive and hard to fix.

Note this is NOT the siren bug and not the environment sound bug (bears making loud stomping noises). There are seperate threads for those.

The beeping in my case was caused by HW monitors apps that run in the background monitoring HW temperature. Turn of the audio signal or increase the temperature warning to over 80° C / 176° F.

An example in point is GPU meter from addgadgets.com or the monitor programs the the motherboard vendors have.
