Hey Guys..

Im experiencing a lot of crashes on my mac when playing the game, and not just game crashes but it totally freezes up and needs to be hard rebooted.. This happens every now and then, and the same with the graphic glitches.. the screen goes all “LSD” like and flickers alot.. But I have full functionality, and logging out to character-screen resolves the issue.

My specs are:
2,8 GHz Intel i7
8 GB Ram
Intel 3000 512MB Graphics

From what I can see my spec are within the recommended spec.. What going wrong?

It’s possible that your graphics card is overheating a bit, or that there is a bottle neck somewhere in the system while it’s running – you have a good processor and plenty of RAM (although GW2 can’t make use of it all) but your graphics card is very weak in comparison so that could be putting pressure on it.

I’d suggest performing a SMC reset, just in case the fans aren’t working 100% correctly?

Well the fans are doing what they can, and are running at 5500-6500 RPM when the game is up.. I do get a fair bit of heat of the underside, but nothing alarming, I´ve even startet elevating the mac, so it has more airflow underneath.

I did as u, suspect the graphic-card to be the culprit, but that doesn’t help me much, seeing as I cant upgrade it on this model (late- 2011).. Are there any tips on how to lower the pressure on graphics? or allocate more ram to it? (Seeing as I have plenty)..
And as for the system-crashes… could that be the graphics-card aswell? But I seems odd to me that it would cause a system-wide crash.
Its really starting to disrupt my playing experience, and its a kitten shame, cause I love playing GW2.. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Your GPU is your problem, unfortunately. The Intel HD graphics family is far below the power needed to run this game.
