Extreme lag
Since latest patch I have been experiencing latency issues ingame, ping above 200 and spiking to 1000, even by setting a port or an alternative specified IP like the following:
194.25.94.170:80
174.35.71.9:80
151.249.90.199:80
93.188.135.37:80
62.154.232.194:80
Some of these IP gives 0 response like the 93.188.135.37:80 making impossible to run the game client.
I’ve done a pathping to the IP was connected to the game when started to have problems a couple of hours ago and this is what I got:

It jumped from 12 to 130 at that spot, but 130 isn’t that bad either. Nothing really shows an issue. Worst case, hop 7 is the problem, since everything after it isn’t too far off from the 130 that occurs.
Since three days ago I get game spikes in PVP to 4000ms ping. My internet ping is normally 40ms, and everything else has been fine. It’s been horrible, not played much. Hoping it’s server overload that is resolved.
same here for the last 2 days same thing happened like 1-2weeks ago
Just some further info:
Ping in GW right now: 2484 (avr. 1200+)
Ping in WoT: 280 – 300
TeamSpeak ping: 160 – 180
I am getting the nagging suspicion anet did not anticipate the influx correctly.
Log into Gw long enough to do “/ip” and copy the Address you get in the chat window.
Then launch Command Prompt(Start>search>“CMD”. CMD.exe is what you need) and type
tracert [ip here]
(no brackets)
This might give you a better picture of what’s causing the slowdowns/packetloss.
Will try. But right now, with that ping, I am lucky to just log in, never mind actually launching the game and staying in long enough to get an ip. But will try.
Try
64.25.33.79
or just
www.ncsoft.com
and while you’re there,do
ping www.ncsoft.com
Everything is fine on my end, 100% package sends/receives and 55ms ping.
(edited by MrFayth.3546)
and then what am i looking for?
mine is very stable to www.ncsoft.com always between 72-76
nvm its going up to 150+ now, and package loss.
Yeah… its not actually helping me knowing that I am getting packet loss…. I still cant play…
Same, I get spikes of 2k-4k ms and it makes the game completely unplayable. They’re very long lag spikes with everyone standing completely still, but I can move around fine, just not use skills.
Yeah, I have been experiencing this for the last couple days as well. Almost always disconnects while zoning, going from one map/instance to another. Really frustrating.
(edited by Captain Sam.6104)
Since Saturday, I’ve been disconnected from game at least 25 times, which is 25 times more than in the previous 6 months.
My ping in PVP matches jumps from ~65 to anywhere from 500ms to 5000ms… at least once if not constantly through matches.
Sometimes, my ping is displayed as 0, and sometimes a normal range, yet I cannot interact with other players or the map. I often appear suddenly in a totally random place than I appeared to be, usually dead or dying.
I have yet to see my ping as higher than 43ms using web browser speed tests, and all other games have worked flawlessly through the weekend. (LoL, HotS, TF2, etc)
I didn’t see a lot of other players reporting issues until last night, and now I see a constant stream of map complaints in the maps and during maps, so I know it’s not me.
Game is basically unplayable at any level of competition currently, please fix.
I’m having huge issues as well… sent in a support ticket with their diagnostics requests, so we’ll see..
and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”
Yeah… its not actually helping me knowing that I am getting packet loss…. I still cant play…
It will tell you where the issue is though, so you can talk to the correct people about it.

Let us know what they say. If I have to guess, I think their servers cant handle the surge in population due to the game going F2P.
Unplayable latency. I’m crashing left and right from the latency. Getting terrible ping rates. Server be broke.

This many people all having extreme lag, it’s the servers we already know that.
The servers can’t handle the rush from F2P like every single game’s switch to F2P. They all end up with overheated servers and kittened off gamers.

It’s like a tree with many branches. There are many routes to get to ANet’s servers. The closer you get, the fewer branches and the more people are affected if one has a problem.
It could be an issue with one of the closer to ANet branches, but still not something ANet can directly fix.

See, you say that, and yet yesterday someone posted about having issues, and posted the trace route (like Anet has always requested) and poof, it wasn’t at Anet but one of the hops in between.
That is why you can’t just go “Hey, with this many people, it’s Anet” without proof.
The main culprit for me seems to be BT [109.159.250.5] (there’s a shock) at Ealing, London.
In game ping peaked at 3.34k. Horrible.
I was living the dream at 3.34k…..relogged and getting 4.58k.
(edited by gitflap.9031)
i can not get into the game. even GW2 website takes so long to load. while i dont have internet problem
I was in, but was lagging horribly. I then lost connection. Something is wrong.
I had the same issue yesterday, really laggy then kept getting disconnected. Was not my internet either, so I am not sure whats going on.
Not just you, 6-10 mins ago it started lagging super hard. I had earlier thought that there was something wrong w/ my line.
HoT = WvW players forced to PVE
This site is taking a long time, also, so there is something wrong with the GW2 site in general. The rest of the internet hasn’t slowed for me.
Agreed, I am experiencing the lag too
Other guildies are experiencing the lag, but live in different countries. The weird part is that we are on different maps, but only some of the players on my map are experiencing it, not all
It’s as if a specific routing server on Anet’s end is jacked up
oh come on. im on ranked PvP. so will i lost the game? i think everybody DC though. so does the match still count as win or lose?

I have 100% loss to it.
I’m lagging on every thing on my computer ever since I got Windows 10. My tablet on the other hand only lags every now and then.

Brutal on MAW just 10 minutes ago 16sec skill delay for about 5 minutes then final a d/c. Taking 10secs to to just change pages on the forums. Yet can jump to another tab and load anything else on the net just fine. Really nothing to report here. Had a ticket opened and the only suggestion was to use the google dns servers. Hmm really I could do that tech support. I won’t be buying into the expansion until I see a change. Not really supporting this!
I get mad lag and disconnects on my NA account (hasn’t happened for more than a year). Very smooth on my EU account.
HoT = WvW players forced to PVE
I am also experiencing this issue. I can no longer get a character in-game but on my first try I got in and there was about a 10-15 second latency between actions. It seems to only be the game and the website exhibiting severe latency for me—all other games/sites I use/visit work just fine.
Happened to me while we were attacking the Shaman. Thought it was the usual Boss Hunt lag and DC, but I couldn’t get in.
Will try in a while.
Not got a problem at all. Where is everyone from/ISP. I’m in the UK and on Virgin Media.

Same here, can’t connect to the game and forums/website takes ages to load.

No issues from UK/Eu here. Could be an NA thing – make sure you are posting where you are
Game is unplayable for me. I’m in LA California, sitting on ATT fiber, rest of the internet works great, in fact, I’m alt tabbed from Rift as I type this post (another MMORPG) logged in just to check.
Logged back to GW2, Dry Top, tried to d oa small event with 3-5 other players around, game skill lag is same as fighting in WvW doing a 3 way full map que blob battle. Nothing works at all except direct damage auto attacks.
Never had connection or latency issues on guild wars 2, was playing fine last night. Today I log in on North America, it took 30 sec for me to even log in, got in the game and had 200+ ping when my normal ping is around 30-70 on average.
Shortly after being logged in I was d/c, go back into the game with huge delay between everything. I check my connection and settings and everything is fine on my end.
Tried Blizzard games and CS GO without any latency issues, just guild wars 2 is having issues for me.
I’m in NA and I’m not have any issues with the forum. Haven’t really played in the last few days so I can’t really speak to the game being laggy or not.
I am on NA, and have friends on NA who are also experiencing the same problems. Could be just the NA servers.
NA Server in Canada. My ping was over 3000!!! Was getting an average of 1400+. Meant i could explore things in instances that i had never seen before but couldn’t actually PLAY. Guess today is a write off
I really hope this gets fixed before the event this weekend, but I doubt it. :-/
EU… and I DC every 5 minutes…

Actually no, that’s quite the standard for my country. In game I get a ping from 170 to 190, which is fine. However above 200 starts to get troublesome.
The problem isn’t that but the lack of response on some of anet’s IP. Will notice some have total loss of package.
