I’ve recently switched from the PC version to the Mac version and was wondering if there was a way to use the skills bound to F1-F4 without having to hold the fn button, or would the only solution be to rebind those skills?

Thanks!

Open the System Preferences app, then click “Keyboard”, and then tick the box that says “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” – this will reverse it so that you have to hold Fn to use special functions (e.g. brightness and volume) and the keys will trigger skills with a single press.

So your choice is to either change this setting every time you want to play and change it back after, or just stick with one way or the other.

You can do this by going to System Preferences > Keyboard > then check the box that says “Use all F1, F2, etc. as standard function keys”. After doing so when out of game if you want to use the special features on top of the F keys like adjusting volume your will then need to hold down “fn” to do so.

Yes, It is slightly annoying to have to always hold the Fn key in order to manipulate the music i constantly listen too when i decide i want to game.

I also do it the way flaming said. in the system preferences.

I used to use an app (which Mavericks promptly booted because it wasn’t an identified developer, which i may have to switch too again) called Function Flip. The app is SIMPLE, you go in a select which F keys you want to function as standard, and which ones you want to use only the special functions on.

The way i remember it was a pretty kitten trustworthy third party developer which is the only reason i decided to try it. Because in order to use it you have to completely disable the app downloading preferences in the security preferences. Just something to think about.
