Hello arena net, I am here to ask for a huge favor. It all started when I was 7 years old, the year before GW2 was announced. I have played GW1 for a long time, maxed out about 7 characters and completed the main story line, on two I completed GW factions, and on my main I 100%‘d the game, everything, clearing out each zone with my brother. It was such a fun experience and what got me into computer gaming, and I still go back to it randomly just to see my Ranger. Anyways, my brother moved away and simply has no time to play with me. My friends never played Guild Wars, so I wanted to get them hooked, I saw that F2P came out, but looked at the restrictions and new they wouldn’t enjoy the game when it is just so restricted. So I am reaching out to you Arena net, (My childhood) and asking for 1 key for Guild Wars 2 core, so they can atleast play it. Thank you so much for taking your time and reading this paragraph.

Your best bet is to convince your friends to try the Play4Free edition, and explain that the restrictions are not that bad for a demo. A free key is unlikely to be forthcoming.

Yeah, its just if you played lets say Call Of Duty, and all you can use is a knife for a F2P but had to spend 60$ for the real thing, likely you wouldn’t want to play that game anymore or buy it because the restriction was so harsh, that it looks like a bad game.

Arena net is not going to give free full core game key to player because they say they play for years and want to give to other person to get to play. If they do that then every one would say same story. Please give me free full game key so I can share with friend. Then they use to make second account or sell it.

Restriction on free to play are not so bad as like you say only play with knife. Free player can play with all weapon. Most important restriction are about mail and trading to stop RMT people. You can read about this here.

The restrictions are not like that for GW2. You can find the restrictions/differences between the different GW2 game types in the Knowledge Base accessed via the ‘Support’ link above/below.

If ArenaNet did you ‘favor’, they would be obligated to do a ‘favor’ for every single person. I’m sure you would not want to be responsible for the company to have to close its doors from a loss of income; you are just too nice. =)

Im pretty new to GW2, didn’t play much because it isnt as fun without a friend to play with. The problem is my friend cant sell really good stuff, or trade it with me, like if he is a monk and im an assassin, if he finds a nice gun, I cant have it. I just want to play with my friend :/

Arena net is still not going to give a free full core game sorry. Many people would have same story like I said and want free game key to use for self or sell. Restriction there to protect game and economy. Maybe try to make a friend with other in game that have full game. I make new friend in game often.

This is why HoT should include a baseline Core license for a friend. Combining all releases into that 59.99 was just a bad business move. It should have been, Buy HoT for an existing account and Gift a Core Game to a friend. Put on 60days of restrictions and call it done.

HoT is near release, the game is going to be 59.99 for the next 2 years from Anet. You MIGHT be lucky to find a HoT key, or even a core game key, on sale someplace and try your luck there. But we wont see another 9.99 sale for a long time.

yea, 49.99. But still. Directly from Anet the current price line up is what to expect for a while. We may get lucky with the older retail boxes, and online key deals from 3rd party. But thats about it.
