A 1% decrease won’t help much. The best way to prevent overheating is to clean it out and make sure that there’s plenty of airflow underneath the computer.

Hey there. Laptops overheating can be frustrating, but the cause of it isn’t really guild wars as much as it is that laptops get clogged up pretty fast with lint. Especially if you have pets at home. My wife has an Alienware m17x and at least once every 6 months to a year, I take it apart and clean out the radiator fins next to the fans for the CPU and GPUs. On some laptops this is a harder procedure than others. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, you can take it to somebody to do it for you but it may cost 100 bucks for them to take a laptop apart and clean it. If you at comfortable doing it yourself , I would recommend looking up a YouTube teardown video for your specific model and see what is required to get to those fans and give them a good cleaning.

This would fix your problem.

Alot of ‘cheap’ gaming laptops also have poor desgin for the chassis meaning they just get very hot anyway and cant be used to extended periods. Be carefull when buying a laptop, make sure u alocate enough money for a true gaming laptop and dont just look at specs, check the laptop chassis is designed with good airflow.

Get a laptop cooling pad – it will make a significant difference in temperature.

Edited to add:

No, 1% won’t make a real difference. Last I checked, GW2 doesn’t normally max your CPU to 100% anyway.

If u do get a cooling pad make sure ur laptop has botton intakes, otherwise its a complete waste. Some laptops have front intakes and rear exhaust with nothing on the bottom, meaning a cooling pad will do next to nothing.

Very much true. There can be a big difference between an ACER “gaming” laptop and something more custom/high end.

I game on a Sager Notebook that works very well. This game is demanding. I find if I limit my FPS to 60, I rarely go over 55c.

I don’t really have to worry about laptop overheating issues with an Asus G75VX but for other users who don’t have a laptop with such high end cooling as one of those, I’d recommend making sure that the internal areas are free of dust and obtain a laptop cooling pad. You’d have to drop processing power by a considerable amount to drop heat if you wanted to go that route. Probably not much at 20% and at 50% you lose too much game performance. That’s inconceivable.
