Hi,

My problem is very simple :
I use to have 50-60 fps, but my system generates too much heat, making my fans very loud (i’m on a gaming laptop).
I’m aware of the 30-60 FPS limiter but it’s not what I want : 60 is too much, and 30 is too low (in reality, on my system 60 = 50 and 30 = 25, and 25 fps is way too low.)

So I’m trying to use the -FPS <amount> cmd line switch, to have a fix 40 fps.
The problem is, the -FPS cmd seems to only work in character selection screen. Ingame, the switch seems to be bypassed by the optional frame limiter. Setting it to “unlimited” (to disable it) doesn’t work.

So, is there a way to limit the FPS to 40, via ingame command, or via cmd line switch ?
If not, this option should really be (re)implemented.
I noticed also that -perf cmd line switch is not working anymore. It was very usefull to set the options ingame for a smooth gameplay. Is it planned to make it work again ?

Thank you.

You can use Nvidia inspector and use the frame limiter to set it to your desired framerate.

@Caedmon
Thanks for the reply, it’s working the way I want to.
By the way, do you have some nVidia Inspector advanced settings to share, to improve my GW2 experience ?
I’m on a core i7-2630QM with Geforce 460mGT and 8Go ram, everything on medium with 1980*1050 resolution, FXAA enabled.

My ears and my fans thank you very much

Nice to see it worked.And no sorry,for now i use the standard settings untill nvidia releases a driver with better optimizations.I tried,disabling FXAA ingame and forcing AA through nvidia inspector but it takes a larger fps hit then expected ( but does look much sharper though ) so im waiting with that,and also tried some Sli tweaks,but to no avail.

btw you can probably try to crank your ingame settings to high when you just leave reflections to off,i found it to take a huge hit on performance when having it enabled and creating alot of stuttering,the other settings not so much ( besides supersample offc).
