FPS, Graphics and HoT
dont look at processor GHz, look at processor architecture. You should post the actual specs of your laptop. I cannot figure out if it possible to run Hot based on how little information is in this post
If you want to help optimize your experience, look at gw2 flags
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
add -dx9single to a shortcut as directed in the link. It should lead to a small fps boost since there are less context switching. I usually use that flag on dual core machines
or you can try and make your own amazon game streaming

HoT is going to be bad on performance for a while. The new zone is vertical and the FoV is INSANE for what the current settings are. On a machine I get 80FPS on in the current zones, in the HoT Beta zone I am getting 35FPS looking into the distance.
I have bugged this with them but so far nothing back on it.
I also now have reason to believe the Character limit setting is messed up as the Low setting seems to have as many characters on screen as medium did, and Medium now has as many as High…ect.
As for your laptop, the best thing you can do is to list the system specs and we can make advice for ya. A streaming service might not be all that bad either, for GW2 I use Kainy though to my android devices and my windows tablet. So if you had a decent desktop you left at home you could render GW2 on that and play it across the internet using a streaming application.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Ok, I think these are the specs:
Processor: AMD A4-4355M APU with Radeon™ HD. Graphics 1.90GHz
RAM: 8GB (7.47 usable)
System type: 64-bit System, x64-based processor
Windows 8.1

ouch. The specs are quite low on the cpu side for gw2

Ok you got 2 choices.
1. Ditch that laptop entirely and buy something 2nd hand, and this is your best bet. I suggest looking up something like a Dell Precision M4600
2. that’s about it, the CPU in your laptop is not upgradable as its soldered to the motherboard. So the 2nd option is to stick with your current laptop and suffer through it.

Only cause he can get a baseline model with an i5 for about 260-299, later on snap in a i7-2720QM, up to 32GB of ram, and upgrade the GPU to either a M270X or later this year a GTX960M
And thats with a M4600. The M6600 can take up to a GTX980M, and has dual HDD bays. Baseline price for the M6600 is 279-319
