The bandit cave in the human zone… I usually have a consistant 60 fps no matter what.
But for the one cave… VERY recently… when I enter it my fps shooters down to 4 – 13 fps.

I can’t figure out why that is. It’s never done that before, before or after release.

I haven’t had this problem with any other area of the game.

Any idea why this is?

There’s a similar spot in Black Citadel, absolutely destroys framerate. Reporting it as a bug is all we can do.

Which part? I’ll have a test for myself.

Wow. Glad I’m not the only one. One of the very recent updates did this to me as well in that Bandit Cave. Not that my frame-rate is all that great considering my system, but I could always enjoy 60 FPS when not too many players were in the same area as me.

Just going inside that cave drops my FPS into the 25~40 range for no reason. I could be starring at the ground.

Haven’t been there since completing the zone weeks ago, all I remember is it was near the vista for the forge. Might’ve been fixed by now.

I was having this issue as well, and found that turning off reflections fixes it. Not sure what they did in the recent patch, but it wasn’t doing this before.

Swamp areas are one of the few locations in the game that max out all 3 of my GTX580’s. 100-100-100, and about 55-60fps.

Same for me, though it’s been like that since day one since I never was in the Beta or played GW1. Something I’ve found though is that High to Ultra shadows significantly impacts framerate. Lower it a notch if you must. But I’ll agree with the same, Bandit Hideout is crazy. Mostly 60 everywhere else and 25-40 in the cave.

I had these issues since beta, they seem to vary by time of day too. its very odd. but in beta my system technically hangs and crashes. Idk but i feel that it has to do with people doing their personal story, because that bandit cave is a part of the personal story areas for some and it could be conflicting with the real world….

I know what’s causing this particular issue (and everyone has it.)

Walk over and pick up one of the bombs in the cave. There’s another right underneath it. Pick that up. There’s another. And another. And another. And another. And another. And another. And another. ETC.

This is why the burning fuse looks more like a camp fire. You’re rendering hundreds or maybe thousands of those bombs in that cave because there’s something wrong with the logic for spawning them. Even if they’re already there, they keep spawning.

There is a place in Frostforge Sound, when you stand back to cave to the whole map your fps is 40+, but if you just look thru that cave it exactly halfes. It has less object in the screeen but i think some fogs or mists causes…

On a side note, Borderlands has more fps than Eternal just saying…

I found that ..in the case for the black citidel .. If you go to graphics otions ..go to Render Sampling ..and set it to another setitng then back to what you run at (i.e super sampling then back to native) .. It will fix the slowdown issue ..Dont ask me why ..it just does.

Hi Mizzory-

I’ve been in the bandit caves many times since beta, frame rates were fine. Went in a day or two ago, and just like you I was 4-13 FPS. nVidia 670 and i5 3570 cpu. So it’s something with with anet’s server or recent patch I suspect.

Just to chime in in a general way.
I too noticed a FEW areas in PVE environments that frame rate dropped to something
that caused me to notice the drop. I never bothred to check the real frame rate at those times but I suspect it was in upper teens or lower 20’s as it was enough to bug the hell out of me.

Normally my rig runs the game in 60 FPS in PVE. (using logitech keyboard display to monitor when not monitoring MUMBLE for voice comms).
WvW is another story, upper 50s typical to 25 to 35ish depending on hugeness
of the keep / tower assaults.

Yah, so some areas are glitchy for sure. I will try to pay attention to exact areas and take notes.
Oh, for the record system is:
Win 7 64 | 8GB RAM, Asus MB P8Z68-V2 PRO,
CPU: Intel i7-2600K @ default clock
GPU: Nvidia GTX 580 no o/c, Drivers 306.23
Display: Dell U2410 1920×1200, with game graphics maxed , MINUS ambient occlusion which is not workign right with current drivers.

Yeah these caves are nasty. 100 fps everywhere in the game for me except here where I drop to about 15.

660Ti. 3570k.

Good find on the bombs. I would agree they are the issue. Also this is a new thing as I did not have this issue on my first character a few weeks ago.

I’m also have huge framerate drops in the bandit cave. 20-30 fps when I get 60+ in almost every other part of the world. Tested this on multiple characters. Very strange.

Having the same issue in the bandithant caverns in queensdale. Huge and sudden drop in fps upon entering the cave.

I’m using a GTX 460 with the 304.79 drivers.

My buddy experienced the same thing in this specific location, and he was using a GTX 560 and same drivers.

It’s the bombs (inside Queensdale’s Bandithaunt Caverns), stacked on top of each other in HUGE amounts, each giving off “sparkler” effects that does it.

It’s not your hardware. It’s a bug. A very big bug.

I also get the effect in Black Citadel but I can’t find the cause.

Hi all
I currently run the game on Nvidia Drivers 295.73, but i’ve been getting my GPU fan kicking into overdrive a lot, so i decided to upgrade the drivers to 306.23…

Now i’m getting strange Frames per sec issues in the bandit caves in the Human zone and other areas, i have never had these strange FPS issues before this driver, i looked and i’m getting 3-14 FPS which is insanely low, i also believe its to do with the fire particles and the strange bomb effects there.

I have since gone back to 295.73 and it seems to be corrected again…

My specs are
Win 7 Home Premium x64
Nvidia Asus DC II ENGTX 560 Ti 1gb
16Gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Ram
Asus P8Z68-V/ GEN3 Mobo
WD sata 3 HDD 1TB

Very odd Issue…
