A few weeks back, I was having all kinds of trouble with Gw2. I barely topped 30 FPS on high settings, while other games, MMOs I was breaking 80 FPS easy.
I put up this topic:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/New-computer-very-low-FPS/first#post6237952

and left with this:

I upgraded from AMD 4300 to FX-6300 6-Core Processor (my mobo socket) and the performance is still bad (desktop has GTX 960). I am sitting in a starting zone, no models around me, and I can barely still break 50 FPS.

I still wasn’t happy, and kept looking for a “real” fix on google and older topics about this. Here it is:

Delete your Local.dat located in C:\Users\ [Your User Name] \AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
Delete the Gw2 cache located in C:\Users\ [Your User Name] \AppData\Local\Temp

You’ll have to unhide both folders. Your graphics will all reset, but keybinds will not.

After that, I logged in, went immediately from 30-50 FPS to an instant jump of 80 FPS, 60 FPS with settings on High.

Problem solved, finally.

Interestingly enough, I tried this, along with a -repair and I did notice an increase in my FPS from approx. 40ish to approx 60ish in the same maps and positions with approx. the same number of people in the map.

I’m running 64-bit client, Win 10 core i7, 24 GB RAM, nVidia GTX 970, 1TB Samsung SSD.

GW2 has always been much more CPU-intensive than GPU, in my experience.

Thank you for the info Fhiladelphia.3945
I did as you suggested and I went from 72-75 FPS to 110-115 FPS with Best Appearance.
Same resolution, same settings for video and audio.
I guess Anet should look into this also.

“Unhide”? And there’s several folders inside of “gw2cache-[bunch of numbers]”. Actually there’s more than one. You mean the whole folder?

I’m running an i7-3770 @ 4.4ghz with 16GB of Ram and a Asus Rog Strix GTX 1080 @ 2100mhz on Win 10 Pro 64 bit. 1920×1080p fullscreen I get about 35fps in Lions Gates and 65fps in the pass. I have all the setting maxed out as high as they can go but have vsync of naturally.

To me, that seems like awfully low FPS especially when my cpu isn’t even over 50% while playing the game.

I tried this and nothing…. My GTX 1080 is at 100% utilization and my i7-6700k is only at 30-40% yet i only get around 30 fps. Really kittening me off.

Hmm… I’ll have to try this next time I’m at my computer. I’ll post results tomorrow.

Edit: Alright. Test has been completed! I think I might be getting 10 or so more FPS? But occasionally it drops to 0 and I get lag spikes. I am re-installing the game to see if that fixes it.
