Q:
FPS lag after super box patch
I have pretty similar sounding problem too! The fps was drastically lower after the latest patches.
Does your sound get “noise” every now and then when you move your cursor?
I posted my report about this issue in wrong place:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/audio/Static-sounds-terrible-performance/first#post2780657
I really hope that this will be fixed. This is currently stopping me from playing the game.
Hoping to get some feedback from Arenanet or some knowledgable individual on this as i really have no idea how to fix it. It’s stopping me from playing as well
I too have dropped at least 30 fps since today’s update. The original SAB update didnt do it to me, today’s patch did. Same processor as OP. Nearly unplayable.
Its constant, regardless if i’m alone in a dark corner or surrounded by a zerg.

Um, well i woke up today, tried guild wars to see if its working yet and, well now it’s working normally again!
my brain hurts
My fps dropped from 46-60 to 28-31, without me changing ANYTHING. In dungeons I get 22 fps, during world bosses I go as low as 13 fps.
My eyes are hurting and it’s being a pain. Can’t play more than 1h without getting annoyed; games are not supposed to annoy you
I wonder is thing even looked into. I really hope they’re working for a fix for this issue. I can’t play this game with my laptop anymore after the last patch. I’d really like to be able to play with my GF but I can’t if my laptop isn’t able to run it at all…
I am experiencing the same issue after the most recent patch (Friday 6 September 2013 Build 23,244).
My FPS dropped drastically from about 50-60FPS in empty open maps to 10-15 FPS even if I am standing still. If I move or rotate my camera it drops even more.
Nothing changed at my end. I was playing the whole night before the patch. Went to sleep, woke up, launched client, updated and then this happened.
I’ve also tried most of the potential solutions here on the forums to no avail.
Frustrating.
Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE (3.64 GHz)
8GB (2x 4GB) Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600MHz CL9
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Motherboard
2GB HIS IceQ Radeon HD 6970
Windows Vista Ultimate SP2
SOLVED (kinda): Well I got home from work today and logged in, and my FPS is back to normal. In empty open maps (e.g. Genderran Fields) I get about 64 FPS standing still. And while rotating my camera it drops to between 35-50.
In LA I get my usual 25-35 FPS while running around.
Again, nothing has changed from my end. My FPS was still bad last night when I logged in.
I feel for anyone experiencing this issue. It’s been a frustrating few days playing with this FPS lag.
I am still having what sounds like the same problem.
I have not yet tried to reinstall Guild Wars, I however have tried to reinstall windows and thus, graphics drivers with no help.
I started getting affected by this after the Adventure Box patch.
HW Specs: (looks like it affects ATI Graphics Cards.)
- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30 GHz
- 8GB DDR3 1600 mhz ram
- AMD Radeon 7870 2GB GDDR5
Software:
Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit
AMD Catalyst Control Center 13.8
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1345
Direct3D Version 9.14.10.0991
Open GL Version 6.14.10.12441
Same bug is back for me again, log off one night after playing, wake up next day log in and its broken again. Can only hope this gets fixed if it’s going to be a recurring problem.
Try the -forwardrenderer switch… it may help.

I saw that in another thread and tried it, all it did was make my game look a bit worse but didn’t affect the FPS at all
Here are some pictures i took showing my GPU at 100% load while gw2 is running, and as soon as its closed or tabbed out its down to 0% again. The screenshot under load shows 69%, but that is due to it rapidly going down as i tabbed out to screenshot :P. Also a picture showing ingame fps.
