Old retired guy here who’s fairly new to dedicated gaming computers. With a lot of advice from younger guys I built a fairly high-end rig and I’m enjoying ~50-122 fps. At times, I’ve seen frame rates as high as 244 !! No high temps on CPU or GPUs. I’m certainly not complaining.

However, at times, mostly during map loads, fps goes as low as 4 or 5 for a short time. IS THIS NORMAL? – Certainly no need for high fps when I’m looking at a map.

Wired Ethernet which averages about 27 Mbps

‘Fairly high-end’ with 2 690’s and 64GB of RAM, sure :p

Yes its normal for games to drop to minimal FPS in loading screens simply because you don’t need to continuously dish out the same frame over and over since its a waste of energy. However, if you’re loading the world, as in you can see the game world around you, and you’re getting 5 FPS for a few seconds when you can move your character; this is normal for GW2 due to poor optimization of the game’s engine (the GW1 engine heavily modified).
