i am getting this card to replace my GeForce GT 420 which runs at 30fps at low.

anyone know how much improvement i can get with the radeon 6770?

edit: i have i7 @ 3.4GHz and 8GB RAM

the 420 is a horrible gaming gpu. It is so bad you will find very little reputable testing/scoring info about it. iirc the 6670 draws 60watts, comparable to your overworked 420 drawing 50watts.

disclaimer: it is your responsibility to insure your powersupply can handle the load before adding a new video card.

I’d like to be positive and say that you’re framerate will go up by 60-70 FPS, but I’ve read too many FPS threads to believe that will be the case. If GW2 likes your system setup, you could probably see framerates in the 60-80 range or higher, depending on your settings. If GW2 doesn’t like your system setup, you might see framrates in the 40 FPS range or lower.

My computer is an i7 920 (2.7GHz), 6GB RAM, and Radeon HD 6870. With vsync on, my framerate is almost always capped at 60 FPS. If I turn vsync off, the framerate varies between 70 and 90 FPS most of the time.

I actually have 6770 and it plays the game great imho.. i play at minimum 80fps @ 1920 res in a 32" tv.. currently have i5 3570k with 4.2ghz (with OC Genie, haven’t got the time to OC it manually ) and 16gb ram if it makes sense.. have no idea how much the fps will drop when i play in WvW since i just got the game yesterday.

I have found that the 6770 isn’t a great card for GW2 my system is..

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor -3.2ghz
8192MB RAM
AMD Radeon 6770 approx total memory according to dxdiag is 4095mb
My display is 1920×1080

I find i can only run the game on Medium and a few settings on high but mainly is all medium. Even though when i do auto detect it says all high but that is extremely wrong as my system will lag in a lot more areas.. i’m guessing this is not to do with the graphics card?

You could’ve made a new thread instead of necro’ing a year old thread, but anyways.

What is your view on “only running”? Where are you getting what results? Out in the open world 30 fps? LA 10 fps? Give us some results.

Download GPU-Z and run it while you play the game. Alt tab into GPU-Z and see if the Bus Interface is running @ x16. If it’s not it might be that. Also open up your Task Manager and see if any of your cores are getting near 100%. If that’s the case, that’s your problem. Do these tests and report back what you find.
