Q:

Didn’t get an answer, sooooo here we go again (sorry).

Since Facebook and other social medias are becoming more and more integrated with our daily life, I’d like to ask this question:

Is sharing Facebook links in Guild Wars 1 / Guild Wars 2 considered a violation on the rules?
Is typing someone real life name in game a violation on the rules?

1st:
I do personally not believe sending a Facebook link should/would be against the rules. A lot of people are using Facebook for communicating with their friends outside the game, planning events etc. It would make it a lot more complicated if we were forced to use another program/tool for sharing our Facebook data.

2nd:
You do not own any of the data you put on Facebook, which also means, sending a link to Facebook, is sharing Facebooks’ data, and not his/hers data.

3rd:
Claiming to be the owner of the Facebook, even though it might not be his/hers. This could lead to a lot of unfair bans. This would also force people to send a copy of their ID, just to prove it is their Facebook.

4th:
Since sending Facebook links could be a violation of the rules, this would lead to an instantly perma ban.

No warnings.

If sharing Facebook links are against the rules, it should be stated more clearly, or at least give a warning before the ban.

5th: The users themselves has the possibility to avoid strangers to lurk at their profile, and make sure they can’t see their “personal information”.

More to be added?

I am not the only one who is seeking an answer to this question. Since I’ve been perma banned, from sending a Facebook link in game, a lot of my friends has been afraid of doing it. They’re not sure whenever this is against the rules or not.

I HAVE NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO GRAMMA + SPELLING, SORRY.

Regards,

Revealing someone’s personal information is against the User Agreement and the Rules of Conduct. (See “Legal” at the bottom of the page to review.)

Posting links to someone’s Facebook account should not happen because, in most cases, it reveals personally-identifiable information about that individual. According to the notes in your tickets, you revealed more than one player’s information, you also revealed the names of family members, as well.

You have received more than one response, and this is the final answer: We will not reinstate the account, due to the gravity of the infraction in which it was involved.
