First game to give me this much trouble
Give me ur full system specs please. It looks like a memory failure, but could be also a problem with a corrupted file.

Here it is. Thank you for responding.

When the game crashed, what was the error message it gave you?
“A serious error has occurred that prevents the program from continuing to run. You can help prevent this error from occurring in the future by reporting it to ArenaNet. Please press the send button to report this error.”
And then gave me the crash report above (ArenaNet.log).

Hi xo wayne – After reviewing your system’s configuration it looks like your graphics card may be overpowering the rest of your system and likely creating a severe bottleneck which would explain the crash issue that you’re experiencing.
Your processor, operating system, and RAM are simply not powerful enough to support your card. You may need to consider upgrading the rest of your system to balance out the card. This should resolve the issue for you.
well i really didn’t designed the game but, u can try either repairing the game, or checking ur ram a disk are working ok
To repair the game go to the game icon on ur desktop, then right click/properties/shorctut tab. Go to target u will se smth like this “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”
Add -repair to that u will endo up with a line looking like this “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
then run the game using the icon
Holy kitten that’s some huge bottleneck you have there! Yes, the games you mentioned you were able to play before wouldn’t require that much specs to run. GW2 is made for mid to high end specs, meaning you would need at least 4GB RAM/3Ghz dual processor/64-bit OS to start with, but your video card itself needs at least 4GB RAM to work properly. If your video card already “eats” all your RAM just to work, thats where you get bottlenecked.
Sad to say but you’ll need to upgrade your specs a little here and there, pal.
I would upgrade the ram to 4 gb. http://www.crucial.com/store/drammemory.aspx

Well thank you all for your suggestions. I was aware of the bottlenecking, but didnt know it would effect the launcher. I cannot even log-in through the launcher to start the game, therefore i am not entirely sure how the bottlenecking will impact the game when actually launching it. Then again i am not an expert with these things. I will see if i can get my RAM to 4GB and i will come back with the results as soon as i can (may take a few weeks sadly).
Well i FINALLY got it working and am at last, satisfied. Didn’t even have to change anything with my computer specs. Was playing for a while and the game is gorgeous with the graphics set to medium/high. So far the game play is very fascinating and am excited to continue.
Thank you all for the help
For anyone experiencing problems downloading the game like i have where you run the CD and receive around a 10256kb of files and then not being able to install the game, check your TEMP folder and there should be a GW2.exe(or something like that). Run this file and you should be able to download the game. After it is finished downloading in your TEMP folder, move all of the downloaded files into a newly created folder (you can move this folder to programs and files if you prefer). Create a shortcut to the Gw2.exe file to your desktop and play. This worked for me but you may try it at your own risk.
(NOTE: it is advised that you delete all files in your TEMP folder before attempting this so you do not get mixed up with useless files and the GW files.)

Xo Wayne,
we are very glad to hear that. And thanks for sharing! Hopefully this helps other players in the same situation.

Yeah. Disk installers are not as reliable as the GW2.exe itself.
Often its better just to get the installer from the official site, or even just gw2.exe itself if you can get it from a safe a reliable source like another installation of the game in another computer in your household.
Quite the smart piece of software that Gw2.exe is. It’ll create the gw2.dat and download all that it needs if it can’t find it.
Actually something interesting about the exe file, if your computer doesn’t meet the specs it won’t download the game or exe file, but you can “trick” the program into forcing the install, basically run the exe file it should display the login screen briefly before crashing, let it crash then find the path to your guild wars 2 folder where it was installed to, after the crash if you don’t already have a Gw2.tmp file there should be one displayed, delete your Gw2.exe file and rename the Gw2.tmp file to Gw2.exe, it should change the icon into an exe executable file, double click on the file and let the game update/download and boom your in, you will have to repeat the above steps every time there is an update, and this doesn’t stop it from crashing in game. But it allows me to play on my work computer which doesn’t have the required specs to run the game.
, Hope this helps!
