Guild Wars 2

I was playing just fine last night. Logged out and went to bed. I get up this morning and now it’s re-downloading the entire freaking game. I didn’t do anything with the DAT file before this. What is going on???

Always have a backup of your GW2.dat my game crashed once and when i try to run the game again it said it needed to repair the game and started to download the files again lucky for me i have a backup of the game on a usb hard drive i just copy my GW2.dat file and it started to work fine.

I had the same problem and will definitely be keeping a backup from now on. It is really surprising that we have to re-download the entire contents of the game, though. There is almost certainly a design flaw in the GW2 deployment package if this is the best solution to corrupted files (assuming only a small percentage of the files were corrupted and needed replacing).

I am having this same issue, but it doesn’t give me any option to run a repair or anything like that. I’m assuming, the best course of action is to just reinstall the game, because I haven’t seen any areanet replies to this problem.

And now its working and I literally didn’t do anything different. Hmmm, odd.
