Is there anyway to make it so your account cannot be accessed by IP Adresses from outside your country?

I was recently hacked, and am still currently banned, so I’ve been going through my email. I never noticed because I seldom check my email but throughout my Junk and Normal Emails I’ve found 12 “Authentication Reqeust” Emails or what not like if I was tyring to access from another computer. All of them save one(Which was from KR) were from CN.

So Long story short, I have no interest in ever visiting China, or Korea, or playing Guildwars2 outside of my country, is there anyway I can make my account only accept localized IPs?

The best thing to do is use the mobile or email authenticator, where you control who accesses your account.

The problem with IP blocking is that, quite frankly, most hackers and more account thieves will use a proxy that makes it appear they’re coming from a different location. So instead of Beijing, it might appear to come from Boston or Berlin. Therefore, saying “Block all these IPs” isn’t effective when the proxy might be in the same state or country.

I always wondered: if you never authorized those requests (and you use different secure passwords for email and GW2 accounts), how can someone log in with your account and rob it?

War doesn’t determine who is right, only who is left.

If you’re using email as your secondary form of authentication, there’s always a chance that the reason you got hacked to begin with is that your entire computer has been compromised, so both your email and GW2 accounts are compromised (whether they use the same login info or not).

It’s somewhat more secure, for that reason, to use a secondary form of authentication that’s never accessed on the same computer as the GW2 login is done (ie use the mobile authenticator or use an email client that you never access on the same machine — or at least not within the same operating system).
