Hi, I started a guild on launch, had a few perks, bought (ingame gold and Pound Sterling) some extra guild bank space and put a pile of stuff in it…

I moved one of my Characters to another guild to join some friends but now have no access to my old guild via my alt characters, how do I access my original guild and guild bank with the Characters I did not transfer to the new guild?

Are you representing your old guild when you try to access it? If you had the alts before you made the guild, they might not be representing any guild.

If you “Left” your old guild and you were the only member, then you just Deleted the guild. HOWEVER, if you Joined a new guild while still a member of your old guild you are now a member of Both guilds and just need to represent the one you want to.

You may be a member of up to 4 different guilds at a time.

Guilds are Account Wide. If you are a member on one character, you are a member on all, if you quit with one, you quit with all.

Different characters can be representing different guilds and that state save for the individual character.

OK, some of the fine detail, I had all my characters in my old guild, all representing that guild, and all should still be in that guild… I left my old guild with my highest level character as I could not accept the invite to the new guild as it was saying I was already in a guild.

My attention was drawn to the problem when I logged in on an alt character and I received a message from the GM of the new guild drawing attention to the fact I wasn’t showing up as representing the new guild (this was a character I had not left the old guild with). Upon checking all my alt characters they were all in the new guild but not representing… when checking further on my alt characters nowhere was there a mention of the old guild, I was also unable to access any guild bank as at that point I wasn’t representing the new guild on my alts (which is understandable).

So where is the old guild which should have my alts in and two people who haven’t played since about the end of the first week after launch?

AreanaNet, I think your the only ones who will be able to sort this one out…

When you join or leave a guild, you do so with your account and not each individual character. When you left your old guild, you left it as an account (all characters), regardless of which character you were on when you left he guild. Representing is a different story, and must be done per character as others have stated before me.

Thanks Gaile, I have done that and will await a response in due course, thank you very much for the quick post

Bovive, ty, I appreciate your points and that is how I expected the system to work so thank you for confirming what I suspected, hence my attempts to solve my issue by posting on the forum, but I think ArenaNet are the only people with the resources to sort it out. As I said above, was a little surprised when the system was not allowing me to join the new guild and leaving the old guild was obviously the wrong choice in an attempt to resolve the problem at the time, thanks for your time

Resources to sort what out? You left the guild with your account. Therefore your account (and all it’s characters) are no longer in the guild.

Do you want ArenaNet to undo your own error? I don’t think they should, I think people need to be accountable for their own mistakes even if done while not aware of how the guild systems work.

I am pretty sure that to join a new guild you need to stop representing your current guild to accept the invite. What you have said so far doesn’t indicate that you stopped representing, in fact you say all your characters were representing.

In any case you should have put in a support ticket before leaving your own guild.

So where is the old guild which should have my alts in and two people who haven’t played since about the end of the first week after launch?

It will still exist with the two people in it but you left the guild with your account so no your alts will not be in it.

You should not label people trolls just because you do not like what they say, that if anything puts you in the troll category. But I am not calling you a troll, I know you are simply frustrated at your situation.

My suggestion which was not 100% confirmed was merely one thing for you and anyone else in a similar situation that reads this thread to you to consider in future. There is no need for you to become aggressive about such a suggestion.

OK, some of the fine detail, I had all my characters in my old guild, all representing that guild, and all should still be in that guild… I left my old guild with my highest level character as I could not accept the invite to the new guild as it was saying I was already in a guild.

The above quote is where you say all your characters were representing the guild before you quit your guild. I did not assume your characters were representing, you said it yourself.

Also, you are posting on a public forum and personal opinions will be offered whether you ask for them explicitly or not.

Here are the facts you were apparently unaware of and overlooked in my earlier post:

1. Guilds are account-wide not character specific.
2. If you leave a guild on any character you leave it on all your characters (see #1).
3. Your old guild will still exist with the 2 inactive players in it. None of your characters will be in it (see #2).
4. Leaving your guild was a user error, not ArenaNet’s error. You may not like that but it is a fact.

Anyway, you may or may not appreciate the facts, but I am simply helping to inform you so you can avoid such situations as much as possible in the future (and anyone else that reads this thread in the future as well).
