Good morning guys, just would like some clarity on this issue. To start off my pc specs:
I7 3770
Hd 7970
8 Gb 1600mhz
Corsair 650 Watts

Now my issue, running the game everything is perfect 70+ fps under stress. But when i’m in WvW between 35+ players on each side my fps hits under 20… And the worst of it all on task manager only 2 cores are on 80% stress the rest is 50ish… Is this game that heavy? Isn’t there a pc that can handle this game?

Indeed, try unpark ur cores (google core parking utility). besides that there isn’t much u can do, try overclocking ur processor. Game is really heavy in WvW, the engine is just not optimized to render properly multiple models without taking a huge performance hit.
U can also disable shadows and reflections those are CPU heavy options it will grant u a huge FPS boost since it will take some considerable ammount of load out of ur CPU.
Other than that is on arenanet side to optimize the game.

Isn’t unparking cores dangerous for the cpu? I mean reducing its life-time?

Not necessarily, its a power saving feature where the CPU will ‘park’ (not use) some of the cores if it doesn’t have to. Parking a core is like a stopped car at a red light. When the light turns green (there is work to do) it takes a few seconds for the car to get up and running at the speed limit. This happens in a similar fashion inside the CPU, which can cause stuttering issues and crippling framerates since the game is heavily used by the CPU.

I have my cores unparked to achieve better performance. I’ll take anything at this point to get this game to run better.

If ur 3770 is a non K version then ur OC will be limited. But u can still easily hit 400mhz extra ontop of ur current max clock. I beleve u can get to 4.3ghz OC on just the multiplier. U can then tweek the Base clock to get a little higher if u wish. (make sure to correctly adjust LLC and Vcore settings)

WvW benefits from OCing ur CPU ..infact u cant get a stable 30+fps in big WvW battles wihtout a 2nd or 3rd gen Intel i5 or i7 OC to 4.5ghz. The AM FX 8XXX series can get close also, but will likely garuntee 25+ fps instead at the same clocks.

Anyway short asnwere : Ur CPU is bottleneckign due to GW2’s crappy game engine only using a few threads.

Oh and core parking will have 0 effect on ur CPU’s life span. Its a power saving feature ..and like all power saving features ..there is always a performance price u have to pay.

Core parking is designed for laptops to provide longer battery life it has 0 negvative impacts on the CPU lifespan, windows is just a terrible OS and cannot self adjust to achieve maximum performance by itself, u have to tweak some stuff to make it run better, ur CPU will just consube a little bit more power that’s pretty much it. Unpaking i7s and i3s cores is a good idea, and improves performance in many benchamarks, it is not as effective on i5s tho, seems like windows after 8 years still cannot manage hyperThreading properlly.
U can also download “processLasso” it is an advanced task manager that does what windows should do by default, it can be confiigured to run games using real cores only instead HyperThreaded cores, that could give u a little performance boost aswell.

Im using a i5 3350 P version CPU with the 560 Ti GPU and i have in big fights 20 FPS. But the problem then is at the server side.. lots of skill lag and low framerate due to the server lag.

Low FPS has nothing to do with server lag.

read and comment in that thread, and again parking has no downside, every chance I get i disable parking for people process lasso is also a good tool to grab(same people make both tools)

and as SN said, is has ZERO to do with server side, the game client is to blame, you would need a 6-8ghz tricore to make this game run as advertised….

Im having same fps on my i7 with 4.3 ghz. I was getting like 40-55 usually for like 4 patches ago and it was never lower then 30. Then poof after thoes big "fixes"for wvw im droping into 20 zone.

Anet servers are lagging. If they fix their servers, then you might be getting 40-55 fps again

Just a side note, but typically choosing “High Performance” in your power options will stop your cores from parking. A much easier way than actually going through your system and unparking your cores manually.

yeah, its not the client sucking, its the servers fault…….

no it wont, High Perf mode will NOT stop parking, this is a common misconception.

its very easy to unpark cores or disable it, there are a few ways to do it easiest is to grab
http://bitsum.com/about_cpu_core_parking.php
and just disable it, you can also use process lasso to help deal with problems related to hyperthreading(you can set apps to only use real cores not virtual/logical cores)
