Hi, i have a problem since about two days (so before the last patch the problem was already here and now it’s the same). The problem is that after some minutes that I play normally, around 40 FPS, that is really nice for me, the display becomes black for some seconds and after the FPS drops to 10 frame per second and the images quality become really bad (almost the same result if I set the “best performance” preferences or maybe worst). The very strange fact is if try to change the graphics preferences the game stay in this really bad quality, the only way to revert this wrosting is restart the computer (but the said problem returns in a while).

I have always played in “best appearance” mode without any problems and with a very acceptable FPS.

My computer is:

  • windows 8 64 bit (original full updated)
  • intel i3 3,0 ghz
  • shappire HD 7770 GHz Edition OC 1GB GDDR5 (last official driver)
  • 4 gb ram

Can you provide some screenshots of before and after, with the graphics panel up so that we can observe the change in both FPS and quality?

I’d recommend checking your temps to make sure nothing is overheating, and maybe trying a clean reinstall of your graphics driver.

The reason I didn’t immediately say that his graphics card is overheating is that the quality of the image was also degraded. Unless an actual graphical artifacts are showing up, usually GPU throtelling only results in slower performance, not a drop in image quality.

This is also the reason why I asked for screenshots.

But I think basketcase has a point, you should check the thermals for your system during the drop just to see if anything is getting out of hand. Make sure to match to the recommended operating temperatures.
