Can you finally fix this issue? I have sent tons of reports. Each time my character gets teleported to new map or someone executes certain skill during the fight in pvp map, my client crashes.

DONE GW2 REPAIR, MY SYSTEM IS STABLE

San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of.

That looks like a bug to me. Basically it says to access a location in memory that isn’t assigned to the game, likely because the location that stored the address wasn’t initialized or got overwritten with garbage. Generally these type of errors are rather difficult to reproduce and thus difficult to find and fix.

I assume when you were prompted by the OS to send an error report to ANet you said yes.

Do you experience this when starting the game without all the command line chaff, especially -maploadinfo as the rest simply speed startup? Saying this cause most don’t run with -maploadinfo and play longer than 90 minutes without issues.

I’m not sure using the command line argument -maploadinfo causes any errors for most. I have always used it, as well as all my Guildies, and we don’t experience errors.

OP, your best bet is to contact the Tech CS Team for assistance.

Good luck.

Well that’s the only thing I could see unusual on how the game is normally played. I’m spitballing here since these type of errors are often heisenbugs that go away when you look for them. So anything that uses the memory pools that normally isn’t can cause a race condition to appear, or disappear locally so no harm giving it a try.

Plus @Inculpatus, a dollar for “but it works on my system” jar.

You might find it helps to run a utility called “RAMMAP”: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/rammap.aspx before starting GW2

Use all 5 of the RAMMAP <Empty> commands (recommended to start from the bottom, and work up to the top). Wait a few seconds to allow Writes to disk to complete, then <F5> to refresh, to see the happy picture!

Close the utility and then start GW2.
As you can see from the attachments, this can free up lots of memory artifacts.

I hope that this helps.

He’s not running out of memory @Pookie, memory is getting corrupted, plus he has 16 GB of system memory

Plus all that utility does is force the OS to push everything to the page file it can from every application currently running. That’s going to only give you short term gains when you start a new program up because the OS doesn’t need to make room for it on the fly.

First of all you should try repair the game, if that does not help you should run memtest to check your memory for bad sectors. If memtest report errors you have to replace the memory or disable the bad sectors.

How to crashreport…
Someone say game crash must be related to OOM
when you read the log it’s not related to that whatsoever…

Hi Behellagh,

As you say, he is not running out of memory. But he does have a large amount of memory in use alongside GW2 running – at least some of which will be memory leaks / useless artifacts from applications that have shut down poorly. Occasionally zeroing this memory is not a bad thing to do, particularly if you rarely reboot your OS.

If you are actually memory-bound, like what I am, RAMMAP is a godsend.

The large number of page faults also jumped out at me, but I don’t know the GW2 application well yet.
Is this normal ?
Since, the error condition that ab-ended GW2 is either an Invalid Page Fault or something quite similar.

Pondering this:
I have not got a feel for whether the skill, PropID, texture referenced at the bottom of the dump are relevant – indicating that a relevant file is missing from disk.
Or whether the running program has created a memory buffer too small for the purpose.
Or whether the memory address is shared with another running program, which has the addressed locked for writing.
Or …

I haven’t actually checked whether it is a valid location in the address space – too early in the morning for my maths brain.

Best wishes,

Hi Abbadon (OP),

Please would you check whether any future occurrences of this problem affect the same memory address:

Memory at address 0000016f`91de1b10 could not be read

And whether the skill, Propid, texture stuf at the bottom of the dump are the same:

Couldn’t find projectile effect for skill ‘ozBOH.8+KHW’
Content is referencing a propID that doesn’t exist propId=‘1543321963280342662’
Content is referencing a propID that doesn’t exist propId=‘1543321885970931329’
Content is referencing a propID that doesn’t exist propId=‘1543321529488645762’
Texture missing mip chain: 0×00ecaf
Texture ‘0×03539b’ dimensions too small
Loading ‘0×03539b’ texture failed
Texture missing mip chain: 0×010140
Texture missing mip chain: 0×0ebc48
Texture missing mip chain: 0×0ebc49

I am expecting the memory address to change for each dump – if it doesn’t it could be bad memory, or an invalid memory address (still too early – haven’t checked).

I am not expecting the other stuff to change – if it does it could indicate a conflict with another running program.

(The above two statements are not intended to an exhaustive list of possible causes – just the highest probability ones that came immediately to mind).

Best wishes
Pookie,

Actually I’ve been running memtest86 for hours during the weekend.
And I have to agree that I had some troubles running my RAM @2400 MHz.
At the end, timings of RAM were adjusted correctly and Memtest86 is not showing any issues anymore. If there were any in past, it was only during adjusting period, when I worked to make it run without errors.

Going further, this is not lack of memory issue. I’ve got 16 GB and i barely use 30% of it at the most.

This error that is happening DOES NOT end up with the error dump form and request to send it to A net. Usually game just closes and nothing happens.

I’ve noticed that this error appears usually when I get teleported from Ise of the mists (the pvp lobby) to pvp map or the other way around – usually when im loading the area and certain (cannot say which skill, which class) performs specified skill – this is common when people wait that minute before game starts, they pop up some skills. Same is at lobby, people run, casting some skills – or not even skills. It appears like it can be also an animation of the character model – a part of the body that is shown (visible) causes this error while character is forced to perform certain move.

I don’t know what and when, but it started to happen since HOT patch.

San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of.

You do NOT need a memory utility and should not use one. Windows will allocate the memory it needs. If it needs to free up RAM, it will. If memory is ‘reserved’, it will be freed as needed.
