I would like for Anet to acknowledge that they are aware of the issue and that a fix is in the works. Is this something being worked on for a near future patch? I get almost 10 black screens a day.

It doesn’t overheat, drivers are up to date, this is the only game I have frequent black screens and disconnects(but that is another problem, id like to focus on one at a time) No I’m not going to take off the overclock, i shouldn’t have to do any major tweaks to make a game work and not have it crash for no reason.

That looks like a pretty significant overclock, so I imagine you did some research to get it stable. What did you adjust your motherboard voltages to? Did you also adjust the power to the video card? What did you set that to?

GW2 is a power-hungry game, and that much of an overclock will require even more power. What power supply do you use? Are you sure it’s up to the task?

Yeah its been really stable. Offhand i don’t know what the voltages are for the motherboard I have to check. The Power supply I have is the Antec High Current 900w 80 Plus Bronze. The power to the card is stock, if thats an issue i would have to increase it in precision to see if that helps.

I’m having frequent black screens since around Halloween patch as well.

I’ve tried tweaking everything:
-Set power consumption to max performance in Nvidia control panel
-Set AA and other settings to application controlled in Nvidia control panel
-Tried windowed mode
-Tried repairing
-Got rid of an SMAA injector to see if that was the issue
-Tried several different drivers (currently running 310.33 beta)
-Tried clocking CPU to factory clock
-Tried lowering the clock speed on my GPU (recommended by someone)

My CPU hover’s around 30C idle, up to 37C while playing. GPU sits 37C idle, 57C during GW2. When ‘blackscreening’ if I alt+tab or ctrl+alt+delete, I can occasionally save it from locking up completely and the video driver will recover.

I highly doubt its on my end because I don’t have problems with other games. But maybe this specific game my rig doesn’t like. Can run Crysis 2 on max with Tessallation pack and HD pack. BL2, Skyrim, BF2, etc, etc.

Occasionally, GW2 will crash at the same time and I’ll be able to send a report.

They are aware of the issue, but they have told me as far as they are concerned, it’s my computer at fault:

Fact: I changed nothing on my system

Fact: The game ran beautifully before November

Fact: The list of things I have done, advice I have followed, drivers I have updated is so long, I’ve dedicated hours of my life over the past 2 weeks to get fixed.

Fact: 75% of the time I get a blue screen crash to reboot or when ever I load a map in game.

I cannot play like this. I don’t want to join a dungeon or do WvWvW because every death is a screen load, and every screen load run a chance of a crash.

I’m not some kid yelling at the rain because he can’t go out and play ball. I am an adult, paying customer.

Please fix this!

I can see it both ways. However, during beta I experienced driver crashes somewhat frequently. Upon the full launch, I played without a hitch up until the Halloween patch (I believe the patch to turn everything back to normal, post Halloween).

So I just find it hard to believe it’s absolutely nothing on their end when everything else for me is working fine and had been working fine on this game.

I’m experiencing 1-2 black screens or crashes a day. I like the game, so I’ll keep playing until the annoyance of black screens outweighs the joy of the game. hopefully it will magically fix itself.

Tried doing a clean boot to see if another program in the background, etc was causing it while playing GW2. Still no luck.

Its definitely GW2 problem, I changed anything and since last patch I have black screens very often while logging(I cant go into character selection, or it keeps black screen too long) in or when I play. Now I was in pvp with necro and had 5 black screens in 15 minutes. I see only mouse cursor, I can move with it, but no sound or anything else displayed. Never had this problem.

i also agree this is a GW2 issue my partner uses an Acer laptop up until the 3rd stress test and since the game gives her black screens after she selects her character and logs into the game,
Anet after many test’s and many files and logs sent to anet tech, they replied saying they did not know why her machine and many others are having this issue and could not provide anything that would fix it,
after many hours of tweaking her settings, i found that if i under-clocked her GPU by approx 20-25 percent, she is able to login and play, but she can still get a black screen at random.
