Friend is transferred to another server then banned for selling gold!?

Last night one of my friends and fellow guild mates was using the catapult (cowtapault?) in the Diessa Plateau to reach the vista point on the tower just after a few of our guild had used it and after ‘using’ the catapult was left on a black screen, we thought this might be a bug as at that moment he used it an event kicked off and access to the catapult was revoked.
After sitting waiting on the black screen for a while he closed the GW2 client down and restarted it only to find he couldn’t see any of us on the map. After trying to work out for a few minutes why, we realised he’d been transferred to a different server, we were on Seafarers Rest and then he was suddenly on a completely different NA server! He noticed he had to wait 23 hours 50 minutes for a server transfer back to us so contacted support explaining the situation to which he received a reply from a member of your support who clearly hadn’t read his message properly proceeding to explain why server transfers were limited to 24hours (despite him not wanting to, nor even knowing how to transfer servers).
To make matters worse, he logged in this evening, ready to transfer back to our server to find he’d been banned for gold selling! This is unbelievable as we know he’d never sell gold and he only has one character (a level 23/24 asura) which he’s had for a week. What the hell is going on ArenaNet? He’s still waiting for support to get back to him so he can get back in the game.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? It appears ArenaNet has moved him to a different server, then banned him for gold selling! I’m quite shocked he wasn’t sorted out last night seeing as he never even opted to transfer let alone this whole banning incident.

I just made a post semi similar to this. I’ve also been banned for that reason, but none of the prelude of that happened to me. I just logged in today (after getting that black screen and having to restart) and got that message that I was banned.
