I have put in a ticket, 120906-003049. My account was hacked and my friends have seen the person online and reported him as well without anything being done. It’d be fine if I was just waiting for an answer to restore it, which I got but it completely ignored the problem. The support staff didn’t even look at my ticket for more than 5 seconds and gave me a reply to reset authentication/password change.
This is completely useless to me seeing as my EMAIL was changed so I cannot even use this feature without knowing the hackers email. I updated my ticket to not resolved and have had no response what so ever. I am thinking of disputing the charge for the game and gems bought. I really do enjoy Guild Wars 2 and would love to keep playing it, but I cannot get my character name back nor my account because I’m being disregarded with a copy-paste response from staff.
I would gladly buy the game again and play but only if I could have my original account back, that was a weeks worth of farming and progressing put into it. I have put way too much time into that account to start fresh just because there was no security which allowed access to my account by simply having my email. Guild Wars 2 is a great game, and I do want to play, but only if I was able to get my original account back, which doesn’t seem like it will happen.

To be fair mate, I don’t think you’ll have much luck with buying a new game and having your account restored with a new key. Saying you’ve put ‘way too much time’ into anything doesn’t really ring true given that the game’s only been out a few weeks. I would definitely try to get a refund for all gem store purchases made on the old account, but I think it’s a pipe dream to ask for your old characters to be applied to a new account.

He wasn’t asking for the same character to be applied to a new account, He simply wants his original account back without having some bs copy paste message about a completely different issue being given to him, and is willing to reverse the charge back or simply buy another copy if he can have his original account back.

Another copy with the original account back IS asking for the character to be applied to a new account. The account (therefore character) is bound to a serial key, so if you put in a new serial key it will be a new account…

Except that they have complete control on their end, seeing as they own and contain all your info for said account. Not to sound rude but you have this perspective like they can’t even altar their own information, which doesn’t even make sense from any logical point of view.

Oh I have no doubt they CAN, but I can almost guarantee they WON’T. The OP’s friend will either get the original account back, which would be great, or they will purchase a new account. They aren’t going to roll the old accounts details to the new account.

Please address this support staff, his account has been online for 3 days straight (obviously multiple users) and hasn’t so much as been locked to keep it from being abused which is ridiculous.
