Guild Wars 2

My video card is making an odd clicking noise when running GW2. It doesn’t make it while playing any other game, just gw2, and immedietaly goes away when I shut off the game. It also isn’t the fans on the GPU, I stopped both of them completely with my fingers and the noise persisted. Any ideas?

I would relate the sound to that of a cricket. I found a video of a noise that is almost identical.

Any ideas would help greatly.

my 7970 has done this before. I never paid it any mind though it happened a long time ago. my CPU also did the same thing way back when I was using a Phenom II during the WEI test.

Did it stop on it’s own? I’ve heard of this problem going away after some use of the new components.

Check your FPS, if its super high i could be coil whine.

If none of the above, consider RMA. Contact the manufaturer directly, show them a vid or a sound recording of YOUR noise and see what they say.

It doesn’t do it anymore. I suspected it would do it from extremely specific loads on very specific frequencies.

It is known that GPU whine can subside with use when first running, but that sounds like the fans. That’s odd, don’t have that issue with the ACX cooler, that’s for sure.
