GPU choice for a new PC build
7870XL is alot cheaper about the same performance as the 7950. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202024&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID
SLI not supported buy GW2 and a really bad idea because of the problems. (also the savings on a mother board without the SLI)
670 is alot cheaper than the 680 and very close to the same performance.
If you use a single 1080p monitor the 660ti will max everything out although the 670 would help some on future proofing if they are such a thing.
GW2 is very CPU dependent I would worrie about that most.

As a general rule of thumb, always go with the fastest single GPU you can afford. Then, later, you can get a 2nd card to run Crossfire or SLI.
A 670 4gb model might be a good choice for future SLI.

Exactly.
The SLI option may be slightly faster than a 670/680 for same money, but buying a 670/680 now means you can buy another used one in a year of two when they’re cheap and have performance equal to the next generation of single cards.
So rather buy one thats is faster than 2 that arent individually faster?
I recently bought a Sapphire Vapor-X 3GB 7970 and it runs this game like a dream. Can’t go wrong with that card at all. Cost me $450 on Ebay.
If you can spare that kind of cash, I’d go with that.

SLI and CFX do with this game, but, your cpu will cause the gains to be pretty minimal in many cases.
My recommendation is a 7870xt, its in many cases as fast or faster then a 670

if 14-17% perf boost at 1080p/1600p is worth 100bucks extra cost to you, then thats up to you, Personally I find the extra cost to be far from worth it.
the 7870xt is the ticket if you want the most bang for your buck, unless you find a windforce (gigabyte) 7950 on sale for around the same price(vary rarely happens)
if you get a 7870xt, get the sapphire(on the part picker list i posted) its got the best cooler.
and again, you can always add a 2nd one later ify ou get a decent board(all amd 990fx boards, and AFIK some 970 boards support both sli and crossfire, for intel you gotta read what boards do and what boards dont board to board)
I do wish people would stop saying that sli and cfx arent supported by gw2, they work fine, the only problem is, no cpu today can remove teh cpu bottleneck this game has, so…..
