During gameplay (usually in a dungeon or a world event boss fight), something happens and my whole system shuts down and restarts, then takes me to the black screen where you have to hit exit/etc. to get the computer to boot up. What is going on and what can I do to fix this?
I performed the command /scannow and found these results:
“Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them”
What do I do now?

Appears there is some issue with a texture? Try to repair the GW2.DAT file.
Follow instructions to run a command line argument switch (you want -repair) from this page:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Note that this may take a while if corruption in the database is found (will force a download and replace of corrupted files).

looks like file corruption. What are your system specs?

looks like file corruption. What are your system specs?
Windows 7 Ultimate
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 840 ZProcessor 3.20 GHz
installed Memory: 4.00 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630
Reinstalling Windows is almost a non option, as all of my graphic design programs / etc. are loaded on and I no longer have the disks to reinstall them.
Is this the onyl way to fix it?
Reinstall DirectX 9C.
Reinstall DirectX 9C.
Assuming that is what was corrupt in Windows. The problem is, windows cannot fix itself; I wonder if the corruption is just from use or a Virus.
If windows cannot fix itsself then its probably a damaged File system to start with.
First OP, you will want to boot to your Win7 Recovery CD/ISO and enter recovery mode and start command prompt. Issue the following Commands
chkdsk
chkdsk /p
if it finds errors let it fix them, this process can and will take an hour or longer
after that, Youll want to run SFC from the same command prompt window;
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=f:\ /offwindir=f:\windows
F: = your Windows Install drive. Running SFC this method will compare the Install vs the version on the ISO/DVD. If your DVD is NOT SP1 but you have SP1 Installed, it will be uninstalled and Windows will be reverted. This should fix any ‘windows’ base errors that are ‘unfixable’ from inside of windows.
If there is an infection getting in the way during the sfc from inside windows, chances are the infection will reapply after you boot into windows again, so download Avast!, Malwarebyes, HitmanPro, and Spybot and install and run them one at a time. Avast! is a AV/Malware program, and installs an active scanner, so make sure you remove whatever AV solution you currently use before installing this one.
Also download TDSSKiller and check for RootKits, as those are usually driver level and can cause many many different kinds of issues.
that is where you need to start, since you windows install is having issues on its own.

Here’s the thing – nothing else runs badly or crashes on my computer but GW2. In fact GW2 doesn’t crash when I’m doing worthless stuff, but when I go into a dungeon or something that is taxing, it’s shutting down. It feels like it’s something simple to do with the game and not my entire computer system don’t you think?
