See title.
I googled GW2.exe’s history with AVG 2014. Results were firewall problems nothing like this. How serious is this? Are other people having this problem? Is Anet aware? if not there you go. Does this have anything to do with phishing?
I will be doing a reinstall.
Screenshot added below. If needed I could send my GW2.exe (still have it) for someone with the right knowledge to look at.

Not a firewall problem. It reports a Trojan or is that the same problem?

Well, you know it is not a trojan. Whitelist it, and send a report to AVG that it is incorrectly listing it as such.
I’ve not seen anyone else post about this over in Game Bugs or Tech Support, which is where this kind of issue belongs. =)
It is possible you have a corrupted file. Have you tried a -repair of the client?
The same thing happened with MalwareBytes and awesomiumprocess.exe some time ago.
Good luck.

To be honest I don’t know. I know what GW2.exe is supposed to do but a report like that still make my alarm bells ring.
I was worried that something edited my GW2.exe to do something more? I don’t know if that is possible. I honestly have no idea how clever viruses are these days.
I am performing a reinstall right now just to be sure.
Edit: The repair client button is positioned on the GW2.exe screen. So yeah…

Repair button? I assume that is what you meant.
I’ve never heard of a repair button. Are you referring to the Launcher screen? There is no ‘repair’ button on mine.
Here are the -repair instructions: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client

No problem. I hope it all gets sorted for you. =)
I have the same problem. AVG reported GW2 was a Trojan and moved it into the vault. I placed it back, but am now wondering if I should reinstall…
AVG is garbage, has been since 2007. You all should be using Avast!

I completely agree. I’ve tried a lot of free AV’s and always came back to Avast.

I, too, support the recommendation to others to switch to Avast from their current AV software.

It’s the way GuildWars accesses the internet is the problem it has an embedded browser for the gem store the make the game look similar to a virus to some AVs. AVG use to be the best AV around but lately it’s turned into a bloat ware resource hog like Norton’s. Get Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials. Some people claim security essentials is junk to but for the average user that just need some basic protection and doesn’t go to weird sites it’s fine. I have been using it for over a year now with no problems.
