So my roommate recently came to me complaining that streaming netflix using his PS4 has become unbearably standard definition for the past week. I just started playing again after a over a year at about the same time, so it stands to reason that GW2 is the cause.
Is there anything I can do that will make it so he can use netflix while I’m playing, with both of us being satisfied?
It’s most likely not GW2, it’s more then likely something with your router, modem, internet connection, or your network port on your PC causing the problem. Can you post the specs/stats for each to try to help figure out the issue. Also, ensure your network port (whether on board, or a seperate card) drivers are up to date.

Another thing is that when i turn GW2 off, streaming returns to normal.

I’m not sure how to provide specs for the modem/router/network port.
seeing as you are a comcast customer i would seriously take advantage of the free norton security suite if you have not already, it could be that you have a metric ton of spyware or bloat ware on your system that happens to activate through the launcher as i believe those generally piggyback off browsers (could be wrong) and that would help close a lot of ‘holes’ on your end, make your computer more secure and what not, potentially shutting off access to unauthorized programs…i mean you have a good amount of bandwidth going by your test result, the only thing really concerning as a comcast user is the upload, thats usually double what you are poting for your tier of service based on your down stream numbers, which is a touch concerning, up to 3x as much, where comcast seems to cap for its up. but now im just rambleing
If you’re downloading the game or using the streaming option to download the game in the background, that could cause it, otherwise GW2 doesn’t use that much bandwidth during normal play. Considering your download speed though, you should have no problem, as even at 4k HD, Netflix would only be using around half.
Your router could be poorly prioritizing the traffic. You could look into manually setting up QoS on the router. You could also simply try using the -clientport option to see if your router will handle the traffic differently, rather than playing with the router itself. (Gw2.exe -clientport 80)
If you’re both using Wireless however, Netflix is going to want 100% of that.

I’m wired and the PS4 is wireless.
Could you explain or perhaps direct me to a guide for setting up QoS, and the also the -clientport option? I’m not very familiar with networking.
Edit: I looked everything up and it appeared other people were having problems with their game underperforming, yet i’m having a problem with other things underperforming. I’m confused about this.
