I am able to log in, and press the play button but nothing pops up after that. No game.
I have tried re-installing the game or running it as an administrator and they haven’t worked either. There were no updates or patches to either my computer or the game since last night(early this morning).
Any ideas on how i can get my game running again?

Let me update this:
None of my games will work. I will also be contacting Steam support and Dell support.
Any help at all would be great.
I believe this is a result of my Windows 8.1 update.

Please don’t give us too much info about your system .. else somebody could maybe post something helpful

Or to say it clear : please give more infos about your hard and software.
Maybe also a Screenshot of all the processes in your taskmanager.

Also if nothing runs .. check your computer for virusses .. reinstall all drivers and maybe also DirectX ..

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Try this, open the gw2 folder, locate a folder called bin and bin it, with luck when you open GW2 it will load, if not try deleting the new bin folder again, if your game worked fine pre september 9th means it’s the files from the new tp that are the culprit. I really miss awesomnium despite all its flaws…

Update your graphics drivers for Windows 8.1.

After that, update DirectX (just to make sure):
