GWII Discs
Yes it is possible. Uninstall the game completely if u havent done so already. Insert Disc 1 and go into My Computyer Double Click ont he DVD drive and run the install from there. You will just have to install the patches once the game installs off the discs. hope this helps
I uninstalled and removed the GWII Setup I downloaded and it still bring me to internet installation.
It depends which version you got, I heard only the North America discs actually came with the game data, every other country only got a 100mb installer.
But even with that you will still have some updating to do, theres already been about 300mb of patches already.

ok so if u have the NA discs you dont download anything uninstall the game pout the disc into the drive and run the installer off there. DOnt download the install client from the website.
I uninstalled what I downloaded so far and it is a NA GWII 2 disc set. I have tried installing it with internet disconnected, but it says I need the internet. After uninstalling everything and trying to reinstall it this is what I get from loading it off the disc.
not sure never got that error. i would just let it go thru its long patch time if it still installs the main game off the disc tho.
Its only doing it from the internet won’t let me disc
Copy/paste the entire GW2 dir onto a USB stick or external HDD. Already done this on 6 different PC’s.

I see. Well no it’s not possible because there has already been dozens of patches/updates that you will need to download that won’t be on the disks.

There is 25 gigs of data that were there before the patches that should still be able to be installed directly from the CD then I can update the patches or is that not possible? I know there are patches.
It’s possible to install from disks, but you will still have to download the updates since the disks were printed. But this means that instead of having to download 15GB (that’s the size right now, not 25GB), you will only have to download approx. 3GB.
(no idea why you get those errors during installation, though)

Some games install everything from the discs “as-is” first and then connect to the patch servers to update it all, while other games use a more mashed-up approach where it can sometimes be hard to tell when they’re just copying from the discs and when they’re downloading stuff from the patch servers.
Diablo 3 was the latter for me and GW2 might be the same – I don’t know for sure, since I’m in Europe and we didn’t get any discs with the prepurchase here.
As Cheiron pointed out, you’ll have to download at least several gigs anyway because a lot of files have been added / updated since the discs were printed, but it should be significantly less than downloading everything from scratch.
edit: My point is that just because it’s trying to connect to the internet right away doesn’t mean it’s planning on ignoring the discs and downloading everything from scratch – it’s probably just trying to update the launcher (GW2.exe) file at this stage.

Dang. Same thing here. Bought it today, installer copied files over… about 14gb worth but now it’s downloading 100k files. I got to 500mb and it was @ 4% finished before I cancelled, unistalled and put the discs back in.
Same issue. This is like the Skyrim issue all over again. Bought game on disc so I wouldn’t have to download at 135.kb/sec and now I am stuck downloading anyway.
Suggestions?
I installed from the DVDs then it downloaded idk like another 5 or was it 10 GB of updates. Woooooooooooo.
You will have quite a few updates to do if you install the game via the dvds but most of the core game files are there.
in your situation, this is definitely preferable to a full download
