I’ve searched high and low through these forums and nothing helps. Whenever I go into a zone my game client goes through the Black Screen with music still playing in the background. I’ve tried a number of fixes that I’ve read through here and on Guru. My client ran perfectly fine up until about a month ago.
1. Right click on the desktop.
2. Select NVIDIA control panel.
3. Select Manage 3D Settings.
4. Verify the “Antialiasing – Mode” is set to Application-controlled / or click Restore.
5. Click OK.
This does not work.
I’ve tried bypassing my router as I’ve read that this may be the problem. Doesn’t work either. My son also plays his own account on his own desktop without any similar problems. Both PC’s are hard wired to my router. I also have no problems running the client on my laptop, but that isn’t geared towards gaming.
I’ve reinstalled drivers and client also. I need a fix that works.
I’m running a NVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti, Intel i-5 2300 CPU @2.8 GHz with 8 GB of ram.
Here’s my latest crash log as of 11/04/2013 today.

Im getting the very same issue since this latest content update..
Some sort of feedback or response would be nice, as it seems this game is trying its hardest to chase people away:/
Honestly, I loved GW2, until I realized you don’t get much help other then these forums, and I feel like that is comparable to winning the lotto.
I had this problem for months, what finally fixed it was doing this:
1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.
Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”
6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
7. Right-click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” and select “Run as Administrator.”
Allow the repair to run and once completed, “Right-click” “GW2.exe” or your Guild Wars 2 Shortcut and select “Run as Administrator.”
Give it a try. It can’t hurt, and it might help.

Thanks Aapheus, but it didn’t help me. Tried it twice and still crashing. I can stand around in cities without an incident, but when I go out into the world that’s when I experience the crashes.

Added crash log in opening post
What happens if you reinstall the game or copy one of the working installs off of the house’s other working computers? This has fixed crashing issues for me in the past in other games.

Did a full reinstall from both online download and from the discs. I get the same problem still. I’ll try to copy from my laptop.
It really sounds like data file corruption. I would delete the game and re-download it from scratch.
-repair is a good tool to use, but doesn’t fix broken links in the gw2.dat file, just downloads and appends missing data to the end of that file.
I would also scan your HDD for damaged Sectors and NTFS bitmap issues.

Hi Reckless,
Actualy I have the same problem and don’t know how to fix It.
I will repost if I found something new.

Scan your HDD for issues, you can boot to a windows7 recovery CD/DVD and choose ‘repair’ and get to the Dos Black Screen and run
chkdsk /r
and see if it reports any errors with your NTFS Bitmap or any physical damage to the Disk.

Still no go. I did as suggested.
Hey i had these problems till like 3-4 days ago! i installed W7 ultimate with full SP1 updates and downloaded latest drivers and it fixed my problem.
This problem happens to you because W7 reset your graphic card because it see it as “inactive” just update/upgrade your windows but i suggest a clean install first!
im sure it will be fixed for ya this way! cheers mate
