Are you running the game with the ~repair addition to the cmd? Have you tried without it?

yes i did still nothing , actually i did the ~Repair cmd after having that error.

As SandraSolace mentioned, you are executing your game using a shortcut that has the “-repair” command line argument. This is evident by the “Cmdline: -repair” statement in the error.txt file.

Run the game directly from the executable in your Guild Wars 2 installation or from a fresh shortcut without the “-repair” command line argument added to it.

After there was the patch i started up the game from my usual Gw2.exe but then i got that error so i tried to fix it with the command

This one will cause you to lose your saved game settings, but it has solved this problem of crashing on clicking ‘Play’ for other people.

1. Browse your My Computer to:
   “C:\Users\YourComputerUserName\Documents\Guild Wars 2”
2. Inside this Guild Wars 2 folder you should see a file called “local.dat”, rename this file to “backup-local.dat”
3. Try to load the launcher. You may have a small download to replace the renamed file.
4. Click ‘Play’
5. If your game loads up as it should, then you will notice your settings are all reverted to default. You should reconfigure your game settings once again to your preference. You can then delete the “backup-local.dat” file.

Once installed, please use the following link to install all material post June 2010 for Direct X. Again this link is provided below:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 (download and run this 2nd)

Please be sure to save the file to your Windows desktop. Then create a new folder on the desktop and extract the DirectX files into it. Once they have been extracted open the new folder and use the DXsetup file to install DirectX.

This have not worked cause my DirectX is Updated.

I am searching the forums and it seems some had this problem and yet no one gave them an answer.. this is really frustrating and it seems not even Re-instal is helping….

Did my suggestion of renaming/deleting the local.dat file help?

Or if you’d prefer to try clearing out all of your game cache files first then:

1. Close your game completely.
2. Browse your My Computer to: C:\Users\YourComputerUserName
3. Then in the window menus, click on “Tools” then “Folder Options…”
4. In the window that pops up, click the “View” tab
5. Select to “Show hidden files, folders and drives” and click ‘OK’ (attached image)
6. You should now see a folder in your file listing called “AppData”, open this folder
7. Inside that folder open the “Local” folder
8. Inside that folder open the “Temp” folder
9. You should now see a folder called “gw2cache-{1501A8C1-6AA1-1601-C2A8-0115A16A0116}” or something similar. Delete this gw2cache folder.
10. Load up your game normally and see if the issue is fixed.

tried still didn’t fixed it.To be honest i tried the Local.dat one but it did no effect not even downloading and even this last solution didn’t worked ;/

Have you installed Overwolf from Teamspeaks latest update? Uninstall it.

Just to specify even more this problem emerged after the patch because earlier that day i was playing GW2 fine there was no problems and suddenly after the patch bam i get this crash everytime i try to open it

Hi, I have the same problem, just before the update the game was running fine, the only difference is that when i click ¨play¨ i get to the toon section screen, then when its loading to a map, the game crashes and i just can hear the background music, the game freezes every single time, its been like that since yesterday.

I still need help here…this is quite frustrating..

Got the same issue here..
Got home from work, played a couple of hours, went for dinner and when i got back i wp to another city and my game crashed saying it lost connection to the client.
Now everytime i try to log in it says it lost connection to the client or sometimes i get to the charactet screen and press play and it crashes again because it lost connection to the client….

Funny thing is that my daughters account who plays on another server works just fine.

Edit: after talking to my guildies on our forums it seems like alot of them are suffering from the same issues and it started when they went for the pve dragon Teq kill.

I’m getting the same problem.
I just finished map explorer and got the title and achievement but no chest , so i decided to relog. Now when i select a char and click play nothing happens after 30 secounds i get dc and same error :/

Update: After a few more tryes i finally got in game….no clue what the problem is.

I also just got my 3k achiev chest and didnt see it so i logged another character to see if it showed up.
Sounds like theres something fishy going on with the reward chest system..

The nvidia Drivers seems not to effect this error since i followed what the support is telling me

Having this issue also. Played earlier this morning no issues went out did some errands came back played for another 30 min or so without issues. Cooked dinner came back new update…..updated now best i can do is get to char select screen before crashing or if i am lucky to get in game I cant stay logged in more than 5 min at a time and its usually less than a min before it crashes back to char select screen. A few times made it into game unable to switch skills or anything had music but really couldnt do anything else then it crashes. Not sure whats going on atm. I restarted comp and did a repair to gw2 with no avail.

Same issue with me as well. Everything was going smooth up until the teq patch. Ever since then I’ve been dc-ing every 15 mins and now it’s become every 5 mins that i would dc. I’ve done everything that was said in this thread but still nothing positive came out. Truly unfortunate.

Have the same problem. Managed to download the latest patch but right after i loggen in the game crashed and I’m getting the same error as before.

I have exactly the same problem, except that the game doesn’t recreate Local.dat after I backup it, and it creates no error log.

My graphics drivers are updated, so is DirectX. I run WinXP. I have no programs running that should prevent playing. It’s quite frustrating as it worked perfectly before patch, and after patch I can’t play at all.

I guess I have yet to try running GW2 with no background programs…

Edit: I also -repaired the client, but that didn’t help.

I was playing normally when suddenly my game crashed and after that I tried to login several times but it keeps crashing everytime after loading screen…

I have found the problem in my case, and fixed it, and now I can play.

My problem is that for some reason, I don’t get any resolution choices in the game menus, only Windowed or Windowed Full Screen. I had WFS set on, and for some reason this crashed the game. I started the game with the -windowed command, which got me into the character menu. Maybe the patch ‘reset’ something so I had to face the problem again.

(These problems only started after I began using a HDTV as my screen.)

Hi guys,

I had the same problems since yesterday.. I have patched the game and when i play a little ( 1 or 2 min) with my character, the game crashes and force me to exit the game.. After this, I try to enter again and when I select my character ans appear the loading screen, crashes again, and again… always the same.

For me this way give me a solution(i’m NVidia user):

1) Go to the folder when you hace the drivers installed, like C:/Nvidia.
2) Cut all the folder, and paste it in some other folder, like “D”.
3) Download the last driver exe from nvidia page, better if you choose you graphic card than select auto detect option.
4) Install and open again GW2 launcher after the installation finished.

Tips:
1) Make sure that you don’t delete your NVidia folder
2) Reboot your pc after intalling the new drivers
3) If an error appear during the driver installation, that’s because you have not mived the NVidia folser where the graphics are.

This work for me, hope it works for you all

This just happened to me after I downloaded Teamspeak…

I uninstalled Overwolf…(what the hell is this?) and Ill see if that fixes it.
