Starting this morning at about 2:30AM PDT, and at no time prior, I’m seeing periodic spurious disconnects from the game accompanied by a “The game client lost its connection to the server” message.
In the past two hours, they have occurred about nine times (and counting), as close together as a few minutes, and as far apart as about 30 minutes or more. They occur whether I am active or idle in-game, and are not automatic logouts due to inactivity.
To isolate the problem, I began pinging my ISP, Google and GuildWars2.com. My pings to my ISP and Google during these disconnects are loss-free, but pings to GuildWars2.com show gaps that look like this:

Because my connection to my ISP and Google remains uninterrupted during these outages, the problem seems to be either at ArenaNet’s datacenter or somewhere near it on the Internet.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or seen any word as to what the cause may be?

Yep, was doing some wvw and suddenly got a 5 second or so lag spike. A few minutes later got a lag spike again and was disconnected from the server.
As you say my connection to other sites and such went uninterrupted.
Also like to add this is the first night this has ever happened to me and i confirmed with other players in wvw that they got a lag spike too. (don’t know if they disconnected when i did as i didn’t log back on)

I’ve only seen one incident since my post, and barring further problems, don’t intend to isolate this further, since I’d need to see more problems to identify the source.
Based on what I’ve seen so far, however, I suspect (but haven’t positively identified) an AT&T leg in California that may have been what was giving me trouble.
Good luck on your end, and I’ll be keeping my fingers (and preferably not wires) crossed on this end.

Yeah it only happened to me this one time, was playing all night just fine. I also use AT&T here in Wisconsin, It could be an issue with certain ISPs. Another thread has issues with people in Europe so who knows.

Just started to happen to me, 2 times in a row lag spike and then “The game client lost its connection to the server” message, but i get booted only to the character selection screen -.-’
Kind of weird since my internet connection is fine, and even the connection to the character select works fine…

Happened just now. Lost pings to GuildWars2.com, but not to Google. Something is afoot, methinks.
Now to log in and see if that Warg ate me while I was away :p

Been online most of the morning and have had maybe 8-9 disconnects same “The game client lost its connection to the server”
Checked my Net line several time 31.mbps down 3 mbps up and 16ms ping for local traceroute.
No other online programme im using is having this issue streaming HD video without stutter other online games working fine

I haven’t seen any further disconnects since my last post, about 7 hours ago, so it seems like whatever the issue was, it’s probably resolved — and probably wasn’t even in ArenaNet’s purview.

Majic, did you do anything to resolve this issue? This is still happening to me in the same way that the OP described, I have scoured and tried all solutions including calling my ISP to no avail. Very frustrating.

I am having the same issue. worked fine until a few days ago. I log onto wow and its fine. did a speed test, 10 mbps down, 1.5 mbps up. not sure what is going on……

Same here… (Switzerland ;) )
Since the beginning i’ve played very well, never had a bit of lag, and FPS always on 70+
In the last week i’m having HUGE spike lag (freezed for 10 sec or more)
especially in the “Dungeons” with large groups of mobs,
but in wswsw too, and the evening in Lion’sArch… disconnection errors too..
I’ve tested my connection and with every other application it’s perfect
I hope this will be fix soon because the game is nearly unplayable for me and other 20 ppl of my guild too …

I’ve been running latency, speed and streaming tests over the connection and all seems to be fine at my end.

I’m having the same issues starting yesterday after an in-game build update. No problems with disconnects prior to this. Few seconds of Lag then disconnect.
