Q:
Game Lag (not fps/hdd/connection related)
What operating system are you using? Several people with Windows 8 have reported issues with laggy input and other oddness.
Thanks for your reply,
I’m running now clean install of Windows 7, with no change.
Just to describe the problem better, while I run around the frame rate is very stable, there is no fps decrease around 42 fps – but the lag is still present.
In windowed mode, I checked for any irregular activity with cpu, graphics and the hdd, but it’s all normal.
Right, I’ve solved my problem now but could someone make it visible on the thread?
Checking just about everything I could to resolve the problem, I failed to check the temperature of my components. I assumed that if the fan doesn’t speed up noticeably the temperature should be normal. HOW WRONG WAS I?!
Turns out my cpu was running at 65 c when idling and going into 80 c when playing the game! The reason why it wouldn’t lag initially was that it was getting wormer and wormer but only after a certain temperature I could experience the decrease in performance.
I had to clean the heatsink (there was a lot of dust in there), and reapplied thermal paste.
Even though I didn’t get much help here, I hope someone can benefit from this discovery as well. Don’t be fooled by quiet fans – check the temperature!
I am getting lag, Windows 8, I have an H100 liquid cooler for my i7 3770 and it is working fine (cooler that is) and I still have the same issue, starts off perfect for about 3 minutes, then slide-show city. I was logging in to just do my dailies and maybe the wvw jump puzzles but now I can’t even do that.
