After the new patch release as soon as i run guild wars 2 client it crashes, instantly giving me an error message. Submitted a bunch of reports.
Seconding this.

Happening to me. I can’t preview anything or else it crashes and now it has started to simply crash when I select a character.
I don’t get an error or anything. I just see the splash screen before the login screen for about 2 seconds then it closes out. Should I make a new thread?
-edit:
*I have checked all the registry entries, they are all there and all what they are supposed to be(except one pointing to a directory, but I changed it to my current folder and it made no dif, so I changed it back.
*I have checked to make sure necessary appdata/ files were there and all good.
*I tried updating permissions( since I moved my GW2 folder to C:\).
*I copied and pasted the gw2.dat and gw2.exe from a 2nd computer that is currently working fine with the new patch.
The only thing suspicious is that when I was in game the people I were playing with were all like “brb guys gonna load the new patch” while I had never even seen a message for it. I kept trying to load tourneys but it kept getting an error telling me that my world was full and there were no visible pvp servers. Finally I restarted and since haven’t gotten past the splash screen.
*oops forgot to add:

if you are an Nvidia GeForce user there might be a possible fix. There was a large video card driver update today that i think may have caused the crashing issue. I reverted to previous driver and that let me run the repair command. I am Verifying the archives now after deleting the local.dat will let you know if it worked or not but at least the client didn’t instantly crash so here is hoping.

yep, worked gonna reply the new graphics driver to see if that was actually causing it but i am loading into the game just fine, except now the world and my ui takes a little to snap into its places
I have had the problem with both the old and the new geforce drivers. Doesn’t seem to make a difference. The client just crashed immediately after loading.

This may sound stupid but have you rebooted your system after rolling back your drivers?

To anyone with this issue, could you please attach the crash log to the thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…” (please do not copy and paste into the thread – the crash logs can get massive).
You can find the crash logs by following the steps below:
1. Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key.
2. Paste in the following line and then click OK.
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
What you want to be looking for is the ArenaNet.log file.
Thanks guys!
Here is my crash log.

I just did maw and I crashed, now I’m trying to load back into the game and it crashes and forces me to send an error report. I usually crash every now and then, but never all the time like this.
edit: repairing gw2 through -repair in properties allowed me to get online
(edited by nerdwarden.1648)
Something strange is happening since the patch today. I’ve gotten dc’d 4 times since. I never had this issue before. It puts me back to my character select screen.
Please someone help me!</3
Just had a white screen an error report.. submitted..
Bumping this. The issue is still not resolved and I have seen other similar threads pop up.

Have you run the game with the -repair option and deleted your local.dat file?
I think I just fixed this. I removed my SweetFX files from the Guild Wars 2 folder, and now the updater is running!

Today i started the game as usual, and the launcher has frozen dead everytime. Even with reinstall. If i try -repair option, the launcher will start verifying all files, then crash report would start popping up, one after another; strange thing is that the launcher will keep verifying/updating files, even with the crash report, until i close the windows and then the launcher goes off. I have windows 8.1, if that’s of any help.
Varyenfell,
You have some oddness. Originally, it appears your system was trying to use the on board graphics card and that was causing some issues. Then its given reference errors to the memory on your nVidia card.
I would recommend a clean install of the video card drivers.

I use “send crash log” button. Why do you even ask ppl to attach those?
I use “send crash log” button. Why do you even ask ppl to attach those?
A) The community doesn’t have access to it; they may provide some help
B) That most likely goes into some data processing services and not directly to the help folks. Its a lot quicker for you to attach it again, then for someone to weed through a ton of generated reports to find the exact one.
same issue here, instant crash when the pre loader popps up. I tried editing the shortcut to run it with -repair, no change.
Ryuke,
Please ensure you are running the game with administrator privileges. The error is basically saying it does not have access to the files.
Also, check that the files are not set as “Read Only”.

I am having this issue too. Earlier roughly around league start I was crashing with the send error. Now, lately I’ve been freezing and have to alt ctrl delete to end the task.

Gigabyte GTX 680
i5 3570K @ 4.2 GHz
16 GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Game is installed on: Intel SSD 520 Series 120GB
I’ve been freezing and having to ctrl+alt+del to kill the process mainly in zerg conditions, wvw, maw, etc.

Same issue (with a slightly different exception ID) since the last update.
Just started on me. Was logged on and did a quick relog to get my sounds back (they disappeared when I started Mumble). Now can’t log back in.

“This program cannot be run in DOS mode” usually indicates a virus infection. It’s also possible that it’s another (legit) program that is running. Either way, it looks like it’s creating an Access Violation error with GW2. Disable ALL unneeded startup programs and run full virus/malware scans.

System cache 13.7 Gig? That is WAY too high. Try removing 16 Gig of your RAM, then test GW2 again. If memory (or a memory slot) is failing it will often show up as a very high system cache value. It should read (typically) 500 meg to 2 Gig.
Edited to add: I’m not sure if the crash log is showing these values correctly OR if it uses different names than Windows on some of the memory information. Anyway, it’s still a good idea to check out your RAM for problems.

Good deal. The error in your log looked like a CPU problem – maybe it was overheating.

It’s also possible that it’s another (legit) program that is running. Either way, it looks like it’s creating an Access Violation error with GW2. Disable ALL unneeded startup programs and run full virus/malware scans.
Thanks I will try that. Although I am 100% it’s not a virus. My PC is like 3-5 months old from a fresh format. Have not downloaded anything and I’m not dumb about getting viruses. Currently, I have Precision X to load on start up, I’ll disable that and then report back if the problem persists.
