Hi guys,

I really hope I’m not the only one getting this. But I have never had a problem downloading/updating all the gw updates that come up. However very recently I have encounter a very unusual problem.

So when you click to start the client and there is an update, it automatically starts and finishes, then I’m able to log into the game. But now when it’s got say for example 20 files to update, it will only complete a fraction like 5 files. The download speed goes down to 0kbs and doesn’t do anything. So I get out of the client and launch it again and downloads say another 3 files out of the original 20. It does the same thing! Goes back to 0 download speed and doesn’t move. I’ve restart the client several times and I still have 2 files to go. But that’s just ridiculous, it should do it in one lot like it usually does.

I download the client on 2 separate PCs, so it’s not a PC problem. Both have similar struggles. I have also ran the gw2 client repairs thinking it will help, but it did nothing. I have attached a pic showing the problem.

Is there anything that could be causing this? I can’t figure it out, I have very little IT knowledge q.q

I’m having exactly the same problem, I was playing fine before the patch from like 1 hour ago, but now the game won’t patch.

Likewise, having the exact same issue, been opening and closing for bout the past hour. Restarting comp and internet doesnt change anything either. ;-;

Having the same problem.mine actually also stops at downloading around 20 MB’s.except I’m at 7 files and have been at 7 files for about an hour or so.which is a first.never been stuck for this long and I’m worried its actually making no progress

Mine stops at 21 MB and at 5 files remaining

Im having the exact same problem…. Tried restarting my computer, internet and i also tried closing and opening up again the launcher, nothing seems to work

yeah i know,this isn’t the first time this has happened.except the point here is it hasn’t progressed.as in its not dropping down to less files.theres another thread where someone downloaded over a gig already.and theres no way the patch was that big.so its using internet but its not actually getting any further ><

I have the exactly same issue, this is happening twice to me. It occurs right after new build. Can’t start the game.

Having the same problems as everyone else. Did the DNS switch, but didn’t worked, and i can’t log in the game right now, stuck on 0%, despite that the launcher tries to update.

Wow everyone is having the problem! We are all:
- closing and reopenning the client repeatedly
- restarting computer does not work
- rebooting internet/router doesn’t work
- repairing client doesn’t work

the only solution so far is to keep trying. It will eventually download. I had to do it around 20 times in order to completely update it. But this is not good enough.

Looks like it’s your move Anet…

-and all stuck at around 20 something mb’s which is going to be significant in some way to the anet team.when they check this in a month from now :p

Yep.. Seems that retrying alot of times eventually it will download.. I was at 5 files remaining and now i’m at 3 files remaining. Anybody knows how big the build is??

Well, I have restarted the launcher probably around 100 times already however I can’t get below 5 files remaining.

I don’t even mind downloading the whole game again at this point but I would like to know if that will actually fix it.

I use VPN to update

I get stuck at 5%, download speed goes up and down until 0 kb/s. First time that it has ever happened.

I’m going to try Spotflux, but anet pls.

Well, I never managed to get past the 5 remaining files so I tried something else I saw on reddit, you have to select another language on the top right corner of the launcher and restart it, then it will start downloading more files(like 17k files).
I let it download for a few seconds and then I choose the original language on the launcher again and restart, it will then start to download a lot of files again but atleast for me that worked, then when you actually manage to get in the game change the audio options to the ones you use, and restart.

Hopefully this helps someone.

Same problem here. Over an hour later and I still have 9 files to go. Even tried a different language. Can’t someone from Anet fix it?

Nothing working here, change language, tried re-starting the update about 100 times, just stuck at 4 files remaining.

Some success. 3.5 hours and I’m down to 1 file left that is stuck at 25 Mb. Surely Anet checks patches before they post them or is that too much to ask!

Deleting everything in “C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2” worked for me.

I’m currently trying to download it on my second PC and I’m having more trouble than the first time. Le sigh q.q

same here stuck at 1 file, gets stuck at 26 mb tried vpn and deleting the local folder

1. Close the Gw2.exe.
2. Install and run spotflux.
3. Executing Gw2.exe complete the remaining downloads.
4. Quit spotflux running.
5. Rerun the Gw2.exe to login. And games.

Can I just come in here and say.. even though I’m a Mac user… I’ve had the same issue for nearly three months now with the download dropping to 0.0 kbps.

This last Halloween/Oct. patch screwed it up badly. I’ve downloaded over a gig with 7 files remaining and they barely moved. Through persistence I’ve kept downloading, and have managed to get it to 1 file remaining. 200 MB later, it still hasn’t moved.

Edit: I should mention that is before today’s patch. I’m banging my head against the desk now there’s MORE to download, but hopefully it doesn’t get stuck like it was. I’ll edit this if it downloads correctly.

So we are supposed to reopen it a bazillion times or use something called spotflux?

Have this problem too, none of the solutions in this thread work so far. Stuck on 8 files, 18mb downloaded, can’t get any further.

I have also been having the same issue. After trying everything on this site except the third party software I finally have 100% of the files, but when I log in it stops to send an error to ANET then crashes. I think the stop start of the downloads made the update files corrupt somehow.

I used Spotflux and got down to 1 file. But this 1 file just won’t download, no matter what I do. Any suggestions?

Seeing as no response from Anet still, going to try downloading this spotflux software to try and fix it. Really sad I have to resort to this.

Even if I manage to get into the game, the map is hardly loading at all. I hope this does get resolved.

Spotflux not working for me I’m at about 60 attempts now to download and I have tried the language swap as well. hmm.

Anet should have given some information already. 10 hours whithout a word, very disappointed.

Still no word on this? I have been to work and come back..

Same error over and over and I don’t feel like having to waste my time when nothing will change. I also refuse to use another program to fix the problem

omg still having the same problem.
but its getting more strange now.

I used VPN to download remaining files but now PLAY button doesnt get active. I mean I cant click on it, so still cant launch game.
it says progress is %100 now but cant click START.

omg it started to get more and more annoying.

Last Edit: START button turned to active, now I ’ve joined the game. It seems like using VPN solved this problem to me.

Changing DNS resolved problem for me.

Since yesterday I couldn’t get my full update…. The launcher gets stuck at 1 file.. Can you please fix the patch…..

Glad I’m not the only one! I’m stuck at 7 files remaining atm. I re-installed it, but that didn’t do it for me.

I have the same problem…. I changed the DNS and de Languaje but didnt work… i want to play :/

Got the same problem , tried the changing dns and using some of the files that was mentioned before…. without any success … hoping the that the ticket i’ve opened will do something good for me…
