I’ve completely re installed GW2 at LEAST 3 times now, and run the repair thingy at least 9 times.

Yet, almost every single time I try to log on, I get the “Error” message that says I need to repair. The game will still play, but sometimes it will crash, or the BGM and voice acting will fail. Among other random glitches.

Maybe 2/10 times it will start with no issues, 8/10 times it will tell me it needs to repair, but runs fine, and out of those 8, maybe 3-4 the game actually crashes or suffers a crippling error.

What the hell is going on?

Windows7Pro, x64.

AMD 3.80GHz, quad core.
2084MB Radeon HD7870
16GB Ram.

Could be that your install is on a bad sector of your hard drive. No matter how many times you repair, the sector is still going to have issues and would have this type of problem.

Mmmm….. Quite maybe.

How would one go about moving it to a different portion of the hard drive? I have a 1TB hard drive, if that helps. With a 120GB SSD with Windows on it.

Perhaps, if you create a new folder, and then move your client to that folder?

Good luck.

Run a scandisk of the HD, defrag the HD and then do a repair. You should NOT have to completely reinstall GW2.

Moving doesn’t help .. copy it .. that makes sure the copy doesn’t use the same
sectors than the original installation.

Also use something like http://www.ariolic.com/activesmart/index.html to check
the status of your harddrive.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

The first time I had this issue was when I built my new PC, the game would repair at every launch. The culprit was bad RAM, I ran memtest multiple times and it reported errors, the game worked perfectly after I changed the memory.
