I’m getting the notorious dtsbits error as soon as the 8/6 patch was downloaded on my iMac. I’ve been crashing once or twice a week on a regular basis which is tolerable but now I can’t play the game at all. What worries me is that I don’t see any posts about this. Anybody else seeing this?

Nope, you’re not the only one. I’m having the same issue, and I’ve actually never had any issue with crashing before the patch.

I’m with you as well. The game is unplayable :/

I have opened a ticket and got a quick response to try deleting some files. That didn’t work, I will reply when they come up with a fix.

Hey guys! It really sucks that we’ve got this issue back again. I am personally not getting this ~knock on wood~ but I’ve seen others with similar issues that occur right along with this. The last time it was associated with the culling fix in WvW. I’m thinking it is bugged again with the new LOD setting.

Can you guys post a few things for me:

-system type and specs (I see some have and so far, iMac is in trouble)
-possibly a screen of in game graphics settings plus if you have LOD enabled (new setting tick box)
-what you were doing or location when then crashes occur (ie running around the crown pavilion, hitting a Zerg in WvW)

In the mean time… Please try these steps start at 1 and follow through to the end (even if you already deleted the gw2folder contents, try again please).

This most likely wont fix the issue, but at least it gives Luis and the devs something to work with and know what doesn’t.

I am having the identical issue. I crash when entering any battle of more than a few in WVW.

Did you try any of the steps linked above?

Also, try lowering your game resolution or settings (not sure what you’re set at).

Do you have LOD option enabled?

Just trying to help and glad I am able to.

I tried every step listed above, no luck.

I get one of 3 different errors. dstBits, Exception C0000005, lockedRect.pBits.

I get two of those errors at any time since the update, the dstBits and lockedRect.pBits. I’ve had it crash every 5-15 or so. Just running around in Div. Reach and outside in PVE areas. There is a noticeable 1 second slowdown right before the crash. No luck with the steps mentioned above.

Same story as the others (though I’m one of those tickets… just sent you a reply Luis.) Tried the steps on the link, same two errors occur. I’ve also tried with the LOD setting on and off, no change.

Hmm same story (no ticket). It was more like 2min between crashes after the main Jubilee patch in the guantlet area. After the second patch however I rejigged all my graphics settings and haven’t had a repeat so far. So not sure if it was the second patch or just setting graphics up again that helped. I run at 1440p with high textures/environment and medium shadows with AA off. At work atm so cant remember the rest of the settings, but generally high from memory a couple maybe medium. Don’t run anything at ultra.

edit: I note most if not all posts so far are AMD, with the majority being the 6970m card.

I followed someone’s suggestion elsewhere to reduce the settings to the preset: Best Performance. It looks shabby, but stopped the crashing. I am in the process of slowly adding things back one at a time to see if I can figure out exactly which settings/combo of settings are causing the problem, but this will take time since I am trying to give each change time to crash before ruling it out. I will post what I find when I do actually get through.

I also put my settings on Best Performance and that stopped the crashing (even in a massive wvw battle). Not the way I want to run the game, but at least I could play.

Same for me, after this clumsy patch i crashed every 10-15 minutes in all the world but particularly around balloons and in the pavillion or WvW where is crowded.
Many with Radeon graphic chips, could be correlated?
My error is the “dsTbits”

Getting crashes as well. It all started in the winter with karka events, after that i was unable to play for long time. Finally in the may I switched to best performance graphic settings and haven’t crashed until recent update. I ve done all steps above and it didn’t help. My error is always “dsTbits”, occurs about once in 20-25 minutes.

Also went through the steps listed above (no joy) and submitted a ticket. I’m having the same issues as Marcarus.5012 and have the same iMac as well.

Same problem here, crashing every 5-10 min. I can’t even get out of the new area before it crashes again. Someone should be fired over this….

Please try the suggestions Kyllaa gave, and reply back to this thread if the problem persists. I’ve seen a couple of these in our ticket system but not many and no replies for the suggestions yet, but if it looks like it’s affecting a large majority of players we can get the issue escalated to the devs. Also posting your specs is important as well, the more information we have with these types of issues the better.

I believe you’re getting a different error than the others. I see you’ve bumped an old thread, we can try to handle it there.

I’ve tried Kyllaa.1385’s advice, but no avail. I’m still getting a variety of errors at separate times.

Hopefully, there will be some news on this soon or an update to our build (crossing fingers that’s what the delay on the fix is lol), however, I’m hoping they don’t break our hawks or some other creature again ;p

I kid, but considering they’ve fixed 2 “crash bugs” it’s only a matter of time before they figure out what’s happening here.

It’s just challenging because it’s mostly affecting only one type of system (my MBP is not having this problem), so it could be giving them trouble isolating the issue.

Same problem here. But it only crashes when there are too many players around.

Making WvW and the Jubilee Event impossible to play.

Would love to lvl up my char a bit faster by doing the Jubilee Events because everybody tells me it is extremely fast and Iam just like: yeah, as long as my game doesnt crash Iam getting good XP but since it crashes every 5 min and takes 2 min to relog every XP boost is just wasted (and the fun falls by the wayside anyways).

A quick fix would be really, really awesome!

Here is an update in case this helps someone. I have stopped crashing as of Saturday although I am not convinced the problem has been eliminated. I followed all the steps including running the repair command from a terminal window as of Friday. The next step was to change Setting Preset in the Graphics settings to Best Performance even though I had previously manually lowered every graphic setting that I understood. I still crashed. Customer support contacted me Fri night and asked me to run the repair command again. I considered not doing it thinking it wouldn’t do any good. I did after remembering I changed the graphics preset. I have been crash free since. The one setting I know that changed when I used Best Performance is Render sampling changed to Subsample.

I will not lower any ….ed graphic, the game used to work till this f…..g patch came out so i pretend a fix.

Same problem here. The game crashes after 2-5 min regardless of what i’m doing (it even crashes when i’m just standing still doing nothing…). I never get an error, the game is just completely stuck except for the music. The sounds of other players that are making noises (like rifles that are shooting…) keep working. The only thing that I can do is using the power-button…

Change the Render Sample to SUBSAMPLE.

The game looks like kitten but I got no crash since.

Thanks MARACARUS for pointing that out. Finally I can do the Jubilee Event and WvW without crashing every 5 min.

After setting the graphics to best performance I have been testing each setting individually to see if I can figure out what is causing the crashing. Working from top to bottom, I have tested from Animation down to Render Sampling. I have stepped up each setting one at a time without causing any crashes. At the moment I am running with the Render Sample at Normal, with all else at the best performance/lowest setting. If you want to change your settings on any single one of those to a higher setting, from what I have seen you should be able to do so safely.

I will continue to work through the rest of the settings one at a time and keep updating this post. It will get a little more complex when I get to testing multiple settings simultaneously. However I will try going back to a higher performance preset and then just reducing only the Render Sample to see if that works. It would be nice to have the solution that quickly.

Sorry this is so slow, but I want to make sure that I am giving the game plenty of chance to crash before considering a particular setting “safe”.

The game worked just fine before this patch. I for one am tired of jumping through hoops or changing my settings just because these devs are too lazy or stupid to test these updates before they release them. I have played since the beginning &I am done with GW2…..

jeez dude….are we ever going to get a native client? We bought the game just like everybody else…I knew it was in beta when i bought it but i had no idea it would still be in beta months from then.

… same problem with me. Since the update GW2 is unplayable. When many players in my area are (Boss fight, pavilion, …) I fly with an error message from the game. My graphics settings are at their lowest point. Kyllaa points I have followed, but it did not change. Before the update, the game ran flawlessly … I have since made ??no changes to my iMac, or install other programs.

Edit: Under Bootcamp and Win 7 (GW2 for Windows) …no problems with GW2!!!

Edit2: now …. it is in my case, I also fly out of the game when I’m in Lion’s Arch.

This is crazy! It has been a week and you still can’t find a fix to something that has made the game un-playable??? Wow, what a dev team you have. Oh wait I get it, because this is only happening to a small amount of the players in GW2 (The iMac owners) it is not on the Devs priority list.

So by the time these guys get around to it those of us who are un able to play are out of luck for the Queens Jubilee achievements & awards. Great, thanks…..

Im curious, have you guys also been experiencing any sudden artifacting since this patch? I have but I’m running mbpr, it goes away for me.. but it will tick onto a player suddenly, or world terrain some times- and this was when I put it to lowest settings =/

I urge an intervention from a Dev, in order to give all iMac users an extimated fixing time for this bug. It’s getting annoying and 13 days have already gone since this problem occurred. It’s a shame. We paid for this game like all windows users!

Seeing as how we haven’t even heard from anyone (like Luis) in 12 days, we can say they don’t even care. Maybe they are just not good enough at the job they do to fix this problem.

Honestly guys, I’m thinking a fix for this will be pushed out with a major content update, rather than an in-between patch.

Pc peeps are having just as many issues; in fact, they can barely run on 32bit windows anymore… That completely negates the min requirements listed for them. This issue hasn’t been fixed and even the tech support staff are recommending 64bit windows lol.

However, hopefully, they figure this out and push the fix with the next major update. ~crossing fingers~

This is not the issue we are having here.
like you can see on the screenshot on the macrumors post the entire desktop will appear in rainbow colors and that is not the case here.

I am having no issues with any other game then gw2 both in osx and bootcamp.

Has anyone seen improvement with the new update?

So far, played about a half hour into the latest update and it’s definitely running better. No CTD yet.

I actually had a lockedRect.bits crash last night in DR while loading my world map to hop to the next event… It completely baffled me since I hadn’t had one in a long time (march culling update).

I can say DR is the only place giving me odd loading issues, when I first log in there or waypoint in, the world is invisible and I can see the layers beneath lol.

Only one crash though, nothing too severe on my end. (MBP late 2011, 2.2gh i7, 8gb ram, radeon hd 6750m 512mb, 10.7) No overheating issues.
